Using one of those doesn't strike me as very sporting. ;)

What's not sporting about a typical Porsche buyer :) being able to hit the target 70% of the time at 1,000 meters?

Personally, I fear that the anti-gun lobby will insist that this technology be combined with facial recognition algorithms to prevent guns from firing at politicians during election season -- which would be a TOTAL violation of the principles behind the second amendment. ;) Also, having the wifi output recorded for post-event court review is every anti-police lobbyist's wet dream..... :(

1,440 horsepower (1773 Kw), 12-rotor Wankel engine, 15.7L of displacement that weighs 375Kg:

Intended for off-shore racing boat, and built by the guy who holds the powerboat speed record from NYC->Bermuda.....

I'm curious why one would build such an engine for a boat? Turboshaft engines are available in that power range. I'd expect them to have a better power-to-weight ratio and to be more reliable as well.

Class rules? Fuel economy? It is 1,240 km (770 miles) from the Verrazano Bridge (mouth of NY Harbor) to the Bird Cage in Hamilton, Bermuda. I would think that they would need a minimum of 10 tons of fuel (@ my wildly guestimated 2 gallons/mile) to make the crossing, and I personally wouldn't want to pay the fuel bill.....

Well, if you're carrying 10 tons of fuel, then the weight of the engine isn't that much of a factor either, and a more efficient engine (think diesel) might produce a lower average weight for the trip? I've always loved the concept of Wankels, but good specific fuel consumption has never been a strong point with them.

Gotta love the Ford "detailing brush" they used: :D

Of course, none of this is news to many Audi owners.....
