    2020 US Presidential Election

Any of you know anything about the 2020 democrats outside of: Biden, Sanders, and Warren?

I have serious doubts about Trump winning again given the nature of how the media has portrayed him over his presidency and pre-presidency. Democrat voters won't be complacent again. Good chance whoever wins the democratic nomination is the next president. I think Biden is viewed a lot as used goods at this point and doubt the dems are ready to full on support a socialist in Sanders.

I think you're right, hard-core Democrats won't be complacent again. But I think the extreme left positions that all the Democrat candidates are taking (stuff like, "Yes, let's extend free health care to all illegal aliens") are not palatable to many of the independent voters in the center, and in the end, those are the people who decide the outcome.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

So far, the only one that is gaining traction is E. Warren?

She is saying what many want to hear & she is not a dummy, it will be a toss up between Trump and Warren, the president effectively put her in spotlight too & by assigning name calling etc. & by giving her the free advertising as if several episodes of Shark Tank , notice how he has been quiet on her now, in comparison?

Big Businesses want that cheap labor too, as do Americans want that slice of the proverbial cake, you know, the one that seems to only be served to the rich, most likely will be a bigger split in the Country & to divide the US so media can sell on each side of advertising spectrum & that much more, no?

    FACT or Question:
The News is now the new 24 HR, live streaming reality TV or Web cast , more people watch that & than any other programming, and is the most pirated, isn't it?

Might be more than we thought in the Independent pool that want Universal Healthcare not really free and illegals already get Free Healthcare as it stands now, no?

Just looking over the quick overview here:
    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...andidates.html

Based off the limited information provided, not the full picture so my views are subject to change.

    Like (relatively speaking):
Bennet - Relatively moderate and wants to modernize the economy and focus on developing better technologies? I could live with that!
Gabbard - Stresses isolation from overseas affairs? That's a good stance in my eyes. There's also quite a bit of evidence the Syrian Rebels were the ones who actually used chemical weapons, not the government.
Ryan - Supposedly is in favor of taking a harder stance on trade deals, maybe not to the degree of Trump, but that's a good focus to have.

    Dislike:
Biden - Props up low skill work for more pay? No thanks.
Bullock - Anti-Gun, Trying to force pre-kindergarten education, and "income inequality" AKA higher taxes.
Castro - See Bullock, add "Medicare for all". I'm already paying way more of my paycheck to the elderly than I care to be.
Delaney - "Universal Health Care"... Next.
Hickenlooper - Expand medicaid, and gun control. No.
Inslee - The Champion of Climate Change mentality is a no go for me. I'm in favor of funding new more efficient sources of energy (see ITER/fusion post in Neat Science threads), but the way the government forces/regulates it is too imposing.
    Sanders - LOL
    Sestak - See Inslee
Swalwell - Witch Hunt on Trump and vehemently Anti-Gun
    Warren - Ok Pocahontas
Williamson - "$100 Billion in slavery reparations" Get. The. Fuck. Out.
Yang - $1000 in universal basic income for all American adults. This is $3 Trillion more in taxes every year. Current Federal Budget is $4 Trillion. Yeah no thanks.

    Indifferent:
    de Blasio
    Gillibrand
    Harris
    Klobucher
    Messam
    O'Rourke

    Interesting Dynamic:

37 year old Mayor of South Bend Indiana
Pete Buttigieg - Could be a wild card depending on how much Millenials prioritize rallying behind one of their own in the primaries.

My personal early favorite is the Colorado Senator, Michael Bennet.

Split from the giant Trump thread.

Pardon my dissent in saying the farther left they go, the more Trump’s chances increase. Trump voter.

That's pretty much what I was trying to say in post #2, so I don't consider it dissent.

I think similarly, I am not necessarily pro-trump, but I am against both extremes (more against left, but extreme right can be too extreme too), I probably fall along moderately moderate conservative, but definitely not moderate moderate side of things. Some where about 10-20% right of center.

Well, in fact, I am consider myself neither left or right.

I consider myself issue based, but the whole political structure is just wack in that regards.

I think that as long as the dem's don't choose someone as decisive as hilary, they have a good chance of beating trump.

The problem is, as Mike so thoughtfully laid out, is that the democrats line up, still effectively sucks.

    I'll probably vote for myself.

Truth is, I was a Bernie guy before I was a Trump guy. Had the Dems not screwed him, wed be talking about President Sanders.

So you're telling us you were young, but have come to your senses since then?
