I have a 2003 Eurovan that has been sitting for 6 months. It had a dead battery and I installed a new one. Fired it up and the Check Engine light is flashing intermittently, the ABS and TC lights are on, oil pressure light is on, no transmission indicator and the tach was sort of working but after a minute, it quit. I scanned it and came up with this:
After spending the day, unhooking each item one at a time and scanning, I was still getting oddball errors. Finally I was going to start checking the CAN wiring and see if there's a problem. I knew the colors of the CAN and that they are twisted pairs. I started by pulling the fuse panel down. I found a bridge that was plugged in to the right of relay 18. It had four twisted pairs plugged into it and I figured they were the four different items (ECU, TCU, ABS, Instrument Cluster) that are for the CAN. I unplugged them and one had green corrosion on it. Cleaned all of them (just to be safe) plugged them back in and everything went back to normal. The plug with the corrosion was the one that went to the instrument cluster.
Previously, I found that the G201 brake pressure sensor was throwing a code. On the Eurovan, that sensor is mounted on the precharge pump and the same as on a e46 BMW IX model (they use a Bosch ABS system). It was not the sensor, that wire is in the perfect spot for mice to chew through, thus they did.
Many people do not cover Eurovans, so this is just put here because inevitably, it's going to happen to someone else down the road. I've already read some things that sound similar but they were a few years old and never resolved. Typically the responses were "You got to replace the (insert part name here)."
