I can't see it from here........... gypsy locksmiths usually dont have lawful or proper tools and could damage a cluster too!

Hi Jack I would like to take you up on your offer to pull the pin out of my used cluster. The gypsy locksmith pulled the pin from my ecu so that should be the same for my current cluster. Is there a reason that you would need the old cluster? Sorry I have not responded sooner. Have been under the weather. I can ship the cluster to you but need to know the hoops that you need me to jump through to prove ownership. The car is in my wife's name. I bought the used cluster from lkq on Ebay. Please give me an idea for your donation also. Don't want to insult you.

If the pin was pulled from the ECM, then you would have PIN for the original cluster since they will be matching PIN values. Have you tested said PIN yet? If you verify it works, then you would only need to get the PIN from the used cluster. Jack loves paperwork, I suspect he is just being very sure he can document he did everything within his powers to verify he isn't involved stolen parts/vehicles.... once PINs are provided, it is super trivial to just drive a car off a lot.

I also attempted to login to the Instrument cluster with the pin code from the ecu. I selected the 17 instrument and then hit login

I put in the pin
I did not get an error The screen just looked the same but had a changing latency spinner so was not sure of success since I am a newbie


The replacement cluster says SAFE when the ignition switch is turned on but displays the mileage on that cluster when the door is just opened before turning on ignition.
