Hi All,
Just wanted to share something that I ran into yesterday in case it assists anyone else.

AD1 Tiguan 2016.
Battery was disconnected for 5mins during some maintenance on the sunroof. (no basic settings).
After the sunroof basic settings were completed, noticed that a bunch of other faults didn't clear, and they were all because the steering angle sensor was not initialized. Not a big deal I thought, just run steering angle sensor calibration....however the fault was not the usual missing basic settings fault, it was this one:
Code:
Address 44: Steering Assist Labels: 5Q0-909-144.clb

I wasn't able to complete the initialization (no security access in VCDS) and running the basic settings G85 in OhDis likewise would not complete.
Decided to call it a night after multiple repeat attempts, short test drives, ignition cycles etc and try again in the morning.

The fault remained for the drive home (about an hour) however this morning the fault has now cleared.
So it seems the sensor just needed a little nap :)

Nice,

Here is some helpful you can try next time, Advanced Measuring Values can be very helpful when attempting to perform the Basic Settings of the G85.

When running the Basic Settings function, use the [Show Measuring Data] button and select the following:
- Each one of these values will give you information about the Basic Settings and the status.
- This way you can see what is going on and correct it.

- Steering angle sensor: basic setting - Start
- Steering angle sensor: basic setting - End basic setting
- Steering angle sensor: basic setting - Status
- Steering angle sensor: basic setting - Initialization status
- Steering angle sensor: angle - Steering angle
- Steering angle sensor: angle - Status
- Status of basic setting

Thanks DrPeter.

When I checked MVB the steering angle was initially showing something like 3274 degrees.

After a few ignition cycles, the values returned to normal however I was still not able to complete the G85 basic settings routine. It would go through the motions, however when it got to the point where it should have completed, it flicked back to incomplete, I believe because the initialization status was still invalid. After letting everything fully power off and back on (overnight) and perhaps also because of the extended drive, that status must have changed.

It's all 100% working now but if I come across something similar again, will try and login first to ABS before Steering Assist.
