Hi guys
Hopefully I have posted this in the right place sorry if not. I have a 2014 Volkswagen caddy and customer has asked me to put a 70mph speed limiter on it. His has a few of these for his staff but wants to no if it can then be removed again when he come to sell the van? Could anyone tell me if this is possible and how I would go about doing it?
Thanks

Without seeing an Auto-Scan it's impossible to accurately answer your question.

Having said that, I do remember that when a similar question was asked a while ago the response was that once the limiter was set it couldn't be removed - but my memory may be wrong

Hi guys I am trying to add a auto scan but struggling to do it I have it saved on my laptop but can’t seem to get it to up load I have watched the video that shows how to up load straight from vdcs is there a different way I need to do it from just being saved on my laptop ? I have also checked the adaptions in engine Ecu today and give me the option to add a static speed limiter I am guessing that’s it ? Surly if I want to remove it I can just set it higher ?

OK, in that particular ECU, there are several Adaptation Channels:

IDE02247 -- Static maximum speed limit (km/h)
IDE02248 -- Individually adjustable maximum speed limit (km/h)
IDE02632 -- Activation of static maximum speed limit (OFF, On)
IDE02633-ENG101613 -- Deactivation of static maximum speed limit (Bytefield_Value,HEXBYTES)

I think that "Individually adjustable" one can probably be adjusted up or down as you desire, but the Static one requires some super-secret Hexadecimal incantation to turn off.

Note the emphasis in my words. I don't recommend changing any of these until others chime in to confirm or correct my thoughts.

Hi Uwe
Thanks for the reply so the static one may not be able to be removed after it has been set ? I did see this in the adaptations for the ECU but didn't see any of the other ways you listed where would the others be located ?
Thanks

I have tested individual speed limit on a few cars (NOT on a similar to yours) and it was possible to adjust it also back to higher speed.
So, I would suggest that you try with for example speed limit 200 and then go back to 250. If it will accept it will MOST LIKELY allow you to change it also from 70 to more...
I would go then for a 150 and try it and then back to 155 for example...
PS: My numbers are in kph :).

This is a good idea thanks a lot was it the static speed limter you adjusted ? in engine ECU adaptions ?

-Uwe-

Late to this thread but found it whilst searching for info on how to remove a 70mph speed limiter on a Friend's T5.

I can confirm that, on this vehicle at least, the: IDE02248 -- Individually adjustable maximum speed limit (km/h) is the operational figure.

This van had it set to 110 by the previous (company) owner and it would cut out at an indicated 70mph making overtaking nigh on impossible/downright dangerous, simply changing this figure to 255 allowed the van to reach it's top speed - sadly not 255kmh though...:(

Static was set to 300, presumably by VW?
