I assume you mean the software.
The problem seemed to arrive with the firmware update but I may be wrong
as I think I did both on the same day.

This really seems to be a vcds software issue.

I have 18.9 and 19.6.0.6 running side by side in different installation directories on the same pc.

Using the same Hex-Net dongle.

Ive had 2 x 2017 A4s in the garage today. Doing autoscans on 19.6.0.6 fail. Close it and open 18.9 and do the autoscan and it works fine. Repeatable everytime.

Same pc (Windows 7 x86 with 4Gb ram, 250gb ssd).

The issue is easily recreatable. Just launch 19.6.0.6 and the issues occur. Close it and open 18.9 and everything is fine.

Interestingly enough, we have a 2017 A4 and haven't been able to re-create it on that, or any other car we've got, but we're in receipt of some debug files now that have useful clues.

Odd that you haven't been able to recreate yet I know Jagpurr and he has Hexv2 with same issue and the original OP too of this thread.

Surely cant be coincidence which all happened after 19.6 update.

Will test 19.6.0.7 and report back.

Hi,

Downloadea latest software and tested today.
Again did 10 scans , result 6 ok 4 fail with same message.
All ok scans seemed to be complete, but on two occasions
when you went to module list the "installed modules " lists wern't there?

computer details:-
Dell Inspiration laptop
64 bit 4g ram 2.5 Ghz
Windows 7 Pro.

Been using same laptop for a couple of years without any problems.

Hi Uwe and team

I can confirm that 19.6.0.7 seems to be working much better than 19.6.0.4 and 19.6.0.6. I have not got a "Function not supported by the Gateway" error and when I do full autoscans they now complete with ALL modules in my car without issue.

My only observation is when the full scan is running on 19.6.0.7 it seems to always start with Module 17 now, whereas in 18.9.x it always started with Engine (Module 01)

Not sure what you changed, but everything seems to be better

I'm going to keep 18.9 installed for the time being "just in case"

So I updated to VCDS version 19.6.0.7 and ran an autoscan via USB using HEX-NET. While the scan appeared to finish, i did get the same error message pop up as before (see post #17). I've attached the scan results below:

Uwe, some autoscan completed, and some not (two ok, two not). Gateway list though, fails every time. For the record, same computer with zero problem on previous versions.

Are you giving the interface enough time to retrieve the VIN after you plug it in and/or turn on the ignition, before starting the autoscan? If so, please send support the .DLM files resulting from your autoscan with debug level set to 1024 in Options .
