morning guys,

i wonder if anyone can help on here, my discover media (retrofit) has stuck on vw start up screen. i have tried the reboot with the power button and this has made no difference. i have just disconnected power from the unit to see if that makes a difference but i was wondering if anyone on here had come across this ? is there anyway of getting unit to work normal. it is also stuck on CarPlay as no buttons are responsive.

^^ I think that Uwe is asking that you post-up a full copy of the autoscan for the vehicle (unedited and unabridged).

Of course anything is possible - I had a MIB unit here from a local forum colleague with similar symptoms and it transpired that he had changed the start-up screen version on his MIB to a value that didn't exist in the module firmware. The changed parameter was duly accepted by the module, however- when the MIB attempted to start-up, it desperately tried to load the screen version for the car as set by the owner- but it coouldn't. There were no time-out settings in his MIB that forced a default start-up screen to appear and I don't recall that there were any error messages in VCDS (I think). Had me bamboozled for quite a while - the only way that I was able to find the fault was by looking at my colleague's history reports. BINGO -there it was - an incorrectly set software switch for the start-up screen.

I'm not suggesting that your MIB problem is the same - just trying to highlight that much can be gleaned from an autoscan report, and perhaps also posting-up a copy of your history files?

Well, we won't know what the missing messages errors are with your older VCDS dongle. You can start by removing address 76 from your CAN gateway installation list as its already present on address 10. Then you can go over the Discover Media's coding to see if any features are enabled which are not physically present in your particular vehicle or vice-versa. Then erase all fault codes and see what comes back. This component protection fault shouldn't be affecting function as the unit seems to be "unlocked" and working otherwise?

All was working fine until Friday gone was trying to get the park pilot image to return and the unit seemed to lock but using powers button it reset, then I was in a menu on the unit itself and it said skins but seemed unresponsive and unit algae been stuck on start up screen since and CarPlay still works

I'm not really sure 2K0 919 475 is a suitable module for DM for the parking aid image to work correctly. For only rear parking sensors, the correct module is 1K8 919 465A. This module has different connectors so you'll need to either rewire or buy an adapter.

For the DM being stuck, remove the radio fuse for some time and see what happens.

it was working intermittently then when i fitted new gateway so i had the 5f compatibility it stopped. i have the 1k8 one with adapter leads to go in but pointless if can't get radio to work

i have removed the unit completely and left out overnight didn't make a difference
