Problem with VCDS coding on VW T5.1
hi @all,
i have a problem with vcds,
on a vw T5.1 i installed the fulled headlight,
fisical installation and rewire the connectors goes ok, but with coding i have a problem,
trying to coding on "07 menù (cent.elect)"
on long coding, the program can't permit me to change bit on Byte 18,
a message RED COLORED tell me that extremely dangerous to change the code...
i know and i want to change in anyway (the modification is tested from many users)
but not is possible, the program can't allow me...
there is a solution to make a change in Byte 18???

Did you not make an Auto-Scan before you started working on this vehicle?

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

If byte 18 is all zeros that means the real coding is "hidden" in an EEPROM value, so there's no way to simply revert if the new coding is wrong nor to calculate what the changed coding should be based on the current coding.
Many owners have caused all sorts of lighting issues by changing a byte 18 value of all zeroes, so you need to be 101% sure that the value you plan to be use is correct.

obviously i did the autoscan before start the work,
yesterday when i wrote the post i was at home, and the transporter and the vcds laptop was in my workshop...so yesterday i didn't post the scan.

i don't have all zero in original coding, but the problem is that VCDS don't permit me to insert, delete, copy or past no one bit in byte 18, no modification permitted by the program

Huh?
You should be able to edit the yellow ones and zeros in field labeled "Binary:"
In addition there is a drop-down box with a few documented values. However, your original value of 0x61 is not one of those.

No! The problem is this! In the field with 0 and 1 in yellow, the program don't allow me to do any modification!
If I go in byte 17 or 19 yes, no problem, I can insert new code or modify a single bit in the string... i solved using the LCode2 windows.

Try these values, for PQ25 byte 18:
- 41 H7/H4 headlights
- 61, 65 H7/H4 headlight (for models with automatic headlights)
- 67 bi-xenon
- 60, 66, for LED headlights (factory Polo 6R)
- 73 for LED headlights (factory T6)
