VW EOS - Tail Light Problem

Hi all, I've got a weird problem with my 2007 EOS that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

I've got a bulb out warning on the dash for the rear left and right taillights - the lights don't illuminate. If I clear the error code the lights come on fine. Which I'm guessing rules out a physical problem with wiring, fuses, etc.? I tried switching off the bulb check but still get the same issue. The car is completely standard, the lights are original and all other rear lights work (indicators, reverse, fog, etc.) apart from the side lights for both sides.

Please post the full Auto-Scan.

Quick and easy, swap out the bulbs in tail lights, or at least move them around.

EOS has passat like LED tails. Most likely they are out.

Yep they're LED but like I said they work fine once I clear the fault code. Thinking about it the previous owner mentioned he'd changed the lights recently (I've only had the car a few weeks). I wondered if they were knock-off lights and were somehow triggering the bulb out warning - I turned off the check but it's still happening. By the way if I clear the error code the lights work fine until the next time I start the car. I'll post the full scan shortly.

I've updated my original post with the full scan now.

I've just cleared the code, the light has gone out on the dash and the lights work normally.

Restart the car, the code comes back and both rear side lights stop working.

I'm NOT suggesting pasting shorter 09 coding from another car into this module is going to resolve the problems but someone may have replaced 09/J519 in an attempt to correct this?

If memory serves, the bold section of the "good" baseline scans is where someone with a Mk5 Jetta or Golf would tweak coding for LED tail light retrofits back in the day. I'm pretty sure all Eos models came with LED factory tails though as golfi_vend suggested and in that case the bold section of the coding may be worth entertaining.

I've only had the car a few weeks so don't know any of the back story. The previous owner said he'd replaced the rear lights as some of the LEDs had blown but that's as far as he went, didn't mention anything about swapping modules, etc. Interesting! You guys know your stuff.
So by the sounds of it the module was swapped at some point is that right? I don't quite follow the fix suggested above? I'm fairly new to coding.

Flames won't shoot out of the dashboard if you try using a portion of either of my example Eos scan coding strings but as a general rule you don't want to paste long coding from one car into another. Further, they aren't the same length so you would need to manually tweak things.

I went out for a drive and the error came back for both lights unfortunately.

Would a solution be to find an original module and switch it back? Would you know which part number I'd be looking for?

Nope no visible signs of any damage, although I haven't taken the module out to inspect it - is that worth doing?

Hi guys - so I swapped out my newer BCM for the older 'Q' variant that originally came with my car and coded using one of the examples provided by Dana in this tread - I then tweaked using the long coding helper to disable the rear wiper bit (as my car doesn't have one) and switch off all the cold lamp diag.

I still get the errors BUT now the side lights actually come on, although they are dimmed. If I clear the fault code the lights come on full power for a second before tripping the code and dimming again. Do you have any suggestions please?

Are these LEDs within the tail light (non servicable)? If yes, what are the tail light part numbers?

It's fixed! Just to wrap this up it turns out one of the resistors had blown on the right side light, as revealed by a strip down of the light. The PCB had some scorch marks. Swapped it out with a working used PCB from eBay, cleared the error and finally it's working
