I have a 2012 vw cc and it will not shift out of first gear. vcds has a code of P1820. I've cleaned the transmission connector still no change. what should I do next? Car has 120,000 miles on it and I changed the transmission oil about 30,000 miles ago. its a DSG transmission.

However, since it's a DSG, the control module and values are all integral in a single "Mechatronic", so there's not really much that can be checked.

I'm not certain that it needs to be changed. IIRC, I've heard of cases where shorts have been caused by metal filings getting stuck in there, but I suppose it should probably be pulled and thoroughly cleaned/flushed at the least. Trying that certainly costs less than a new one, right?
