New polo vivo tire monitoring system and g85 calibration 2018 model

hi there. new shape polo i cant calibrate g85 in abs unit. vehicle were involved in a accident. did remove steering crash data. but tire monitoring light flashing and esp light on dashboard remain on. could some kind members please advise on what to try next. many thanks.

It looks like the steering angle sensor is broken. Did you replace it? Check wiring?

vehicle was in accident. but not very bad. but airbags did deployed. not sure if g85 is located in power steering unit or outside behind steering wheel. funny in life data steering sensor does work to positive and negative side. i can get it ti zero position. its starts running when i try do adaption then suddenly stops. my question is why does steering 44 not complain about the g85 sensor but abs complain?? any idea why tire monitoring system faulty. many thanks for your reply dear friend. keep well.

The ESP needs the steering angle as one of the variables to work out the stability parameters. In your case it will be located in your power steering unit itself. The 1s2 part number suggests it's from an up! car. Was it replaced?

Hi Michel,

I don't have access to repair info for this 2018 6RS Polo Vivo but based on the coding of 04 and 44 it looks like G85 is enabled in the 04-Steering Angle/slip ring itself. If that location is correct (rather than misleading information due to replaced modules with incorrect coding) I wonder if the slip ring with integrated G85 wasn't damaged when the Airbag deployed?

hi this is the latest scan after i tried doing basic settings on esp unit and steering angle sensor. customer has not changed the slip ring only removed it and tested for continuity. when doing basic settings it runs but ABORT DUE TO SAFETY REASONS. many thanks.

Okay so it's the steering assist point at the ABS. ABS on its turn is pointing at a defective steering angle sensor. In your case it's the external version according to your VIN.
I'd suggest to replace the steering angle sender or at least verify it's working correctly, plugged in and placed correctly (not turned 1 rotation in the wrong direction or whatever).

Basic setting of the steering angle sensor is done in the ABS. I believe I wrote the procedure somewhere when I fitted my own electromechanical power steering as an upgrade of the hydraulic system of a 6R. It's very similar to your system. I just can't really find where it is... sorry about that.

Hi all members. Customer fitted new g85 sensor. Fault code under 04 went from faulty sensor to calibration fault. Calibrated sensor under 03. Fault codes gone. ESP calibration fault gone and tire monitoring fault also gone after calibration of sensor. All fine. Many thanks.
