the North American RNS-510 after the 'fudge' moment

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 56: Radio (J0506) Labels: None
Part No SW: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ HW: 3C0 035 684 P
Component: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ H30 VWZ6
Revision: AB001001 Serial number: VWZ6Z7U0236003
Coding: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ
Shop #: WSC 59034 001 104857
VCID: 75B71D2575CBBF5FBDB-8020

No fault code found.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The system was in a sort of fail-safe mode: odd skin, no audio, total brick.
VCDS was able to restore the original coding pasted from a privious Auto-Scan
log (04090042010000A6000B Fender Audio). At this point, rebooting the unit by
[<]+[>]+[STAR] buttons enabled the AM/FM/CD Audio/Backup Camera/Hands Free/
Voice Controlled Phone Book with the correct skin.

No Sirius, No Digial FM, No Hard Disk Drive, No Navigation/GPS, No Ipod Access
and No SD Card, No DVD Movie Player. Every so often the VW synthetic voice
would request, "Please insert Navigation DVD." My dealership tried using ODIS
to push back the original operational software/firmware without success.

I got my RNS-510 fully restored http://www.onesys.org/vw-rns510
This is my server, upload bandwidth limited, please don't break it, I'll leave it up
for a couple months.

Please excuse my being vague, current laws in the states makes the owner of
a forum legally responsible for content other people post on their site. I'm
actually being protective of Ross-Tech.

Hope this helps someone as these units are quite unique.

Sincerely,
Grant
*all my vw auto-scans have been posted to the auto-scan area.

Yeah, you must have done a good job of bricking it; as ‘ÿ’ is the ASCII representation of 0xFF... :)

Never do anything half way. CWL bootloaders included!

oregonvw is there any way you could reinstate the link you had provided? I cannot gain access and I have a bricked RNS 510 I would like to bring back to life. Thank you in advance! :D
