My search (so far) of the 1000+ page wiring diagram hasn't yet shown that. HOWEVER it appears that the door button switch connectors that I disconnected months ago MAY share the same connector as the door antennas. Tomorrow I will reconnect the front two, since I know one rear one was faulted but can't remember which one. I've been under the belief that for some reason the car can no longer "see" my fobs. There MUST be another antenna(s) or it would not have worked until now.

I am learning A LOT here. Tonight I was pulling fuses, checking them, with the car running. Pulled one of the KESSY fuses, car shut off. TPMS immediately came back on. Hmmm. Found there are two fuses for TPMS, one on each side. I replaced the missing fuse. Found a blown fuse for the aux head lamps 20A, replaced that. Also replaced the radio and amplifier fuses.

Thinking: rerun coding 07 with no changes on CAN 19? See if it finds the KESSY again with ALL the fuses in?

Frankly I don't like living without the radio, I'll have to determine why it was drawing so much power when off. Could be the amp, I never checked to see which one. Could be as simple as the remote on/off control from the radio has a bad wire so the amp just stays on. I'll investigate that further once I sort out this remote issue.

What the hell, the laptop is charged and I'm wide away. I'll go run that CAN coding and see what happens lol. Can't hurt at this point.

Dana: your suggestion of the label file helped immensely for me to understand things a bit better. Thank you!

There are antennas all over. Front and rear bumpers, central, luggage rear, two interior, and a couple of others I counted, plus the 4 in the doors which presumably are there to sense the key when it's in your pocket.

Ran auto scan tonight to clear out all the codes I created by pulling fuses. Came up clean afterwards. TPMS light is lit. No code for that, I'll scan again at work tomorrow.

I need to ask the dealer if they tried just flashing back to stock. If not, why not? That would rule out anything I did I would think. I AM learning a lot about this SUV. Interesting stuff. Hoping to get the two front door antenna/button connectors hooked back up tomorrow during the day. We will see what, if anything, that does.

I have it on a charger now, as has been the custom since I bought it a year ago. Oddly no errors for the radio system. However tonight was the first time during a scan it ever showed "Diag." on the MFD.

I have two weeks to sort this out before deciding if I want to go back to the dealer and spend $500 plus in labor. My KESSY IS bad. It makes the clicks and "Shift into P" on the dash from time to time, although that seems to have cleared up since I disconnected the door antenna/button connectors.

There is a KESSY for it on eBay right now for $119. Worth buying? Difficult to program or just plug it in and do the key sync thing? Tempted to just track down a TPMS module but I don't really want TPMS, planning on winter tires on another set of rims, would rather NOT buy 4 more sensors. I check tire pressures every third fill up religiously, always have. I have no need for a TPMS really. Which there was a better option to delete it. Maybe just remove the module?

I would think you'd need the PIN for the used KESSY. Do you have some means to obtain that?

I really don't think the remote problem is intrinsically related to killing off TPMS. Lots of people have done that on T1s for various reasons (mainly because those first generation TPMS systems were a royal PITA) and I don't recall any other complaints that remotes stopped working as a result.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

OP: I can help you get pins or do a data transfer with proper credentials..........

Uwe : Back then, the cars were newer and the antennas or tracks were not as damaged as they are now for water ingress & time for corrosion to do all kinds of wonderful things.

OP: Did you verify that tracks of all antennas are proper and isolate them for Kessy and TPMS?

There are two KESSY variants for this platform. One does true keyless entry (unlock when you touch the door handle) and the lower end one only does remote control where you have to press the button. Can you confirm which you have/had? It's possible during your KESSY recoding adventure that you told it you don't have keyless.
    Silence gives consent.

I was able to get my pin for the one in the car now. I would assume that if I plugged another one it I could get the pin in the same manner, thru the diagnostic port......

    Jack,

By credentials I would assume you mean a copy of my title to show proof of ownership?

I have NOT verified TPMS and Kessy separation. I have identified a bunch of antennas for the Kessy though. Both bumpers, a few inside, one in one of the pillars I believe. I think I tracked down about 7 last night scanning thru the wiring diagram.

My Kessy is keyless entry. A function I do not need or care for but would replace with the same part. I found one on eBay, all numbers are the same except no "C" on the very end.

I found a TPMS for $50, I'm going to get that. Worst case I'll just deal with the warning light during the winter on winter tires. Would prefer a full delete however based upon the wiring diagrams everything seems to be very interrelated and it's not likely wise to just remove the module and recode on a car I am trying to get into tip top shape.

What I have learned is that these cars had a lot of new features that are now common on new cars, VW just had some trouble with the execution in these early ones. Mine is in really great overall shape and very low miles. I want it to last me awhile, at least a few years, at which point I'd like a newer Q7 V8.

I've ordered a TPMS module and a Kessy module. Worst case I can pull my existing Kessy and do the diode repair I have seen on Club Touareg. I happen to have the right tools to do that (electronic soldering equipment).

Meanwhile I'm going to keep plugging away at this one. Mainly reading the wiring diagrams to make sense of how it all ties together. Haven't gotten to the door antennas yet today. Too busy at work. Hoping to do that right after work.

Yes drivers license & registration and or title to correlate the owner record of custodial care proof.

I just noticed this thread, I'm in the same situation as you, but with a VW phaeton. Not the same kessy, but very close.

After I did auto scan and clear all fault code, I lost remote funcionality. The car still in the shop, I did try everything I can, to learn back the remote, but there is no way in this state it's possible.

I can't even learn a second key to the kessy, but it had 2 working key before. I tried it with pin, over Gekko, no joy.

I'm pretty sure the remote was working, because I opened it with a remote, sat in, did a scan as I always do when customer drops off the car, and after I was done, remote was gone.

I did not think VCDS caused this till I saw this thread, I was thinking how unlucky I'm again, and how these stupid VW immo system fuxx me over most of the time.

A used kessy on the way, but i will investigate more after reading this....

Attached autoscan. Don't mind the errors, the car came in for repair.
