Trying to get my VCDS to connect to a 2011 VW Golf Mk 6 1.6 diesel.
The green light on the device works when plugged into OBDii, but when trying to connect with VCDS it is not initiating and will not communicate.
Golf has a new battery but has not ran for nearly 2 years - it starts but then cuts out, so i cannot get it running or reading codes until VCDS communicates.

The VCDS works on my other car - a 2006 Audi A6.

do i need to do anything different when logging in on the golf to what i would do on the audi?

or have i reached a VIN limit on the VCDS? I have previously used on a Skoda Superb and my current Audi A6.

thanks very much.

ps - i don't have the VCDS to hand at the moment - i assume you can see from my login details the serial number of the device i registered with you which i purchased in 2016?

You don't need the engine running to do a VCDS scan, just the ignition on.

We'll need to see a full Auto-Scan to help you further.

The OP has a HEX+CAN.

With it plugged into that car, do [Options] -> [Test] and post the exact result.

On an Mk.6, all diagnostic comms you through the car's CAN Gateway...
