I am verified but seem unable to post elsewhere so I am putting it here.
Shortly after receiving my VCDS I ran a scan on my 2002 Jetta 2.0 (I have three Volkswagens).
It showed a long term fuel adjustment. I searched for a vacuum leak using carb cleaner but could find nothing.
I decided to pull the dip stick to observe the short term adjustment response. (It was very small).
Turns out my dipstick was old and the plastic ribbing meant to seal the dipstick tube was long gone.
New $7 dipstick and the last two tanks of fuel averaged 32 mpg (I was previously averaging 26 mpg).
Based on my annual driving habits, this will save me over $300 a year in fuel costs!
