"Data type not supported for adaptation" error message

    Hello!

I'm trying to change the value of the following adaptation channel in the "09 Cent. Elect." block:

    IDE11477-ENG128661-Interior lighting: parameter-p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI_3

its current value is 00000000 and I want to restore it to 00001000. I've used 31347 security code.

It's supposed to bring back separate sunroof led brightness controls to head unit menu. But VCDS doesn't allow me to do it and shows the following error message:

Is it something that can only be fixed by the new release?

    Regards!

Please provide an autoscan so we can see which ROD data is being used and then simulate this here. Thanks!

Autoscan for only 09 block is enough, right?

Implemented in source, thankfully Andy's e-tron had the same channel:

VCDS wasn't equipped to handle bit-fields in adaptation sub-channels.
I'm waiting on a new UDS dataset and then we can push this in the next beta!

I have my problems to believe this was a bug as I remember numerous people changing these channels for retrofitting ambient light.

Only thing I can remember about these channels is that you have to use the S12345 login for the engineer session.

That particular (sub-)one is being displayed as a bitfield, that's (was) the issue here. It's possible previous UDS data called for it to be displayed in another format, like hex or decimal?
I was able to change it back and forth using 31347 on the e-tron.

    Hello All and hadez16,

See this reaction from Uwe, #28.

    https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthr...diculous/page3

Maybe he also has an old cable that may be the reason why you can not change it!, because i cant olso and the reason is down written!

I don't remember exactly when we discovered the problem with a few Adaption channels that were too large for the older cables to handle, but I think it was right around that time. In any case the problem was not obvious at first, until some people made changes to such channels, which had unforeseen consequences and they were unable to revert them. We then put checks in the software to look for that, and block those channels from being accessed with older cables, in order to prevent the contents of those channels from getting messed up.

    Those are two different issues.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.
