Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can help out with this; I was trying to figure out how to code my car so the LED Drl's flash with my parking lights when I lock/unlock the car. (2017 GTI with lighting package)
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears... Been searching for the past 2 weeks with no luck.

Thank you,
Kevin

Do you mean the Coming Home / Leaving Home or the signaling that unlocking/locking has been done (normaly two flashes for unlock, one for lock)?
Please also add a control module map of your BCM (09) adaptions as CSV using the login 31347 (AdpMap).

Thank you for replying so quickly.

I am looking for the 2 flashes for unlock and one for lock.
I will have to add the map you are talking about later this evening as I am stuck at work right now.

Thank you...

I don't know how it is named in the english VCDS, but you could accomplish this using the "Dynamische Blinkmodi". Never tested it that way, but it could work.

ENG141649-ENG122204-Außenlicht_Blinker-ZV_Blinken_auf = active
ENG141649-ENG122203-Außenlicht_Blinker-ZV_Blinken_zu = active

Then set the desired Leuchte channels to function "Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken" and give then a dimming value and direction.

I will have to look into that, thank you!

Do you happen to have a link or more information regarding the coming home/leaving home programming?

Thank you again...

TBAx :it's reported as "Dyn. turn signal modes" in english version of VCDS and your instructions do indeed work! I wrote a set of similar steps using your technique a couple of years ago now (vwflames: see HERE)

Hi Don,

Thank you so much for the reply; I just went to my car and performed the steps from the link you provided. Warnblinken_Zuendung_EIN & Warnblinken_Zuendung_AUS were already set to active, then after going through the other steps, the front DRL's won't flash.

Is there anything that I need to reset? I even put my headlight switch to "Auto" cycled through the lock/unlock function with no luck.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you again...

Don't know about this specific mod, but some changes to MQB BCM lighting functions need a complete BCM shutdown before they come to life. Means that car has to sit ignition off and doors locked for at least 15 minutes or so. Just a few days ago I was struggling with Skoda Octavia, OEM LED licence plate lights installed but couldn't get the "check bulb" warning go away after changing the bulb type adaptation channel. Until I remembered this... after a good night's sleep (for me and the car) everything was working.

So there might be other issues, but it is always good to let the car sit for like half hour, after making changes. And then see if they are working.

Thank you for the information and updating the instructions.

When I followed the updated steps: ZV_Blinken_auf & ZV_Blinken_zu were already active as well as Warnblinken_Zuendung_EIN & Warnblinken_Zuendung_AUS.
With both these categories "active" will that cancel out the front lights from blinking? Just curious because after following the steps it still doesn't flash :/ Even let it sit for 15 minutes as suggested a few post back and no luck.

If there is anything that you guys need on my end I will be happy to get you that information.

I really appreciate every bodies input on this!

^^^ Of course, I will always refer to TBAx - but I'm thinking perhaps your selection of the Leuchte channels for the DRL lamps might be the problem. If you post-up a copy of the Adaptation map for the control module @ address hex09 (it's called "Cent. Elect. (J519)" on your auto-scan), we can confirm how your car's DRL lighting is configured.

Don

PS: If you are not familiar with the term "Adaptation map", or if the term congers-up a mental image of some kind of cadastral file, then look at RT's magnificent video HERE. This video has a dual purpose, but if you start at about 2:19 minutes, you will learn how to generate an "admap" for individual control modules. At about 2:33 minutes into the video choose different options as follows:
  • control address = 09
  • Under "Function", click the adaptation radio button
  • Under "output", click the CSV file radio button
then just press the Go button and magic stuff will happen!!

May the force be with you

Hi Don,

Thank you thank you for the help and the links! I viewed the link you provided and went out and did the "adaptation map" which was pretty cool by the way.
Wasn't sure how to get you the excel file RT provided so hopefully the link works.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=15lYTkIOg1sI_nYdYJFXTi20YZuSOAJVs

Thank you again for looking into this and helping :)

PS - I also tried this and nothing worked other than the low beams being turned off with the CH/LH function.

^^vwflames: Mighty effort by you - go directly to the top of the class and collect the admiration and undying adulation of the forum - yes, perhaps a tad over-the-top, but thanks for creating and for posting the admap!!

So, it seems from your file that there are 4 x Leuchte-sets that control the DRLs as follows:

The records above come directly from your admap albeit I have re-ordered the sequence so that the operation of the Leuchte-sets makes more sense (to me at least)

The changes that you have made to the Dyn turn signal mode channels is correct, but I note that the changes suggested in steps 8 - 13 of my instructions have not been made. Not sure why not - can you confirm please?

Hi Don,

Thank you for the kind words!

I can confirm that I didn't do steps 8-13 in your instructions when I ran the adaptation map just because I wanted you to see what my car's coding looks like; I apologize for not running the adaption with the full coding change.

However, I just recoded it and the LED lights do not flash with the lock/unlock feature; so I ran the adaptation map again and supplied a link with the new values.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=15lYTkIOg1sI_nYdYJFXTi20YZuSOAJVs

I do apologize for the mistake and thank you for your time with helping me out! :)

Thank you,
Kevin

^^^ Kevin: Hi again
hmm......... Of course I'm the first to admit that I'm a bit of a Luddite where non-relational database files are concerned. And, I most certainly agree that things work somewhat differently way down here in the Southern Hemisphere (i.e. in the Antipodes). But isn't your latest admap (in post #15) exactly the same as your first admap (in post #13)? If these 2 x files are not the same (they appear to have the same the file-name), then my observation is that there are no differences in the adaptation channel values for the DRLs.

What have I missed?

Don

Hi Don,

Oh my goodness I'm so sorry, you did not miss anything; I guess the force was not strong with me today! lol

After reviewing the link in post #15 I realized I attached the wrong file. Please see the updated link:

Once again sorry about that! Hope you are having a good weekend :)

^^^ Hmm.......... try this:

revert the settings to Leuchte2SL VLB10 and Leuchte3SL VRB21 back to factory values (see my post #14 for these values)

Make the following changes - bracketed values are default:

ENG116940-ENG115963-Leuchte4TFL LB4-Lichtfunktion G 4 = Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken (not active)
ENG116940-ENG115965-Leuchte4TFL LB4-Dimmwert GH 4 = 100 (0)

ENG116941-ENG115982-Leuchte5 TFL RB32-Lichtfunktion G 5 = Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken (not active)
ENG116941-ENG115984-Leuchte5 TFL RB32-Dimmwert GH 5 = 100 (0)

Hi Don,

Thank you for sending over the new values. I just went out to the car and reverted Leuchte2sl & Leuchte3sl back to factory values. However, I did make the new changes and unfortunately no luck. I am attaching the adaption map with the new changes just for reference.

I really do appreciate you helping me with this and I apologize for the amount of time it is taking from you...
