Skoda Fabia - Fault codes

Hi Guys,

My friend repaired a damaged Fabia VRs that had a frontal crash however after clearing all the fault codes are only left with 2 errors which we are trying to sort out.

The first one as shown below. The power steering pump was replaced however getting this error Power steering sensor G250 Open or short. We are not sure if this is the sensor on the pump or the steering rack? Can somebody point this out please?

The next one is Airbag where the Airbag ECU was replaced with a like for like ECU from the same car. However when I try to code the ECU with the Long coding from the old ECU it simily complains ' Code rejected'?!?!?! My question here is can the ECU be coded with VCDS? The ECU was replaced as the front driver side and passenger side airbag was replaced.

please post a full autoscan for context.

I might be mistaken but I believe the airbag ECU cannot be taken from another car, you need a new "virgin" one.

Is a scan available from the original airbag module?

I suspect that what some people consider "like for like" really isn't.

Hi unfortunately I didn't take the auto scan for the original unit but when went into the ABS address > Long coding I took the screenshot of the original coding as shown below

I can see there are differences in the component numbers:

Replacement unit: VW10Airbag00K H09 0020
Original unit: VW10AirbagT2C H10 0020

Even though the part numbers are same would the difference in component numbers make a difference?

Yes. They have a different "Index" or "Color Code"

Part number alone is not enough to specify an airbag module in most VWs. The complete spec includes the "Index" or "Color Code".

Thanks for the clarification. Just to confirm, can thr crash data be cleared using vcds? Simple clearing of error code doesn't help.

No, if [Clear Codes] doesn't do it, then it cannot be done with VCDS, nor should such an airbag module be re-used.
