    It's this part:

It's used to eliminate a module from the optical ring bus temporarily.

In place of whichever module is suspect.

    Exactly.

You unplug the fibre optics from the module and plug them into that loop-back connector.
It completes the optical 'circuit' and will let the other modules talk.

When you do this it is recommended you unplug the copper cables for the CANbus and power as well.
This will eliminate any communication problems there from propagating to other modules.

The dilemma in all this is, if it alls works after using the loop-back, you'll likely need to replace the module you took out of the loop...

Before I spent the money replacing a module, I'd check the obvious stuff first, like: Is it getting power? And if not why?

I give even money odds the problem here is a blown fuse for the 47-Sound System module. ;-)

Agreed - additional diagnostics are necessary after we see what the loop-back shows.

Until then we don't have an Auto-Scan prior to the event to know that it was working, or know if any jump starts were attempted. [he says with cold clinical analyses]
Hopefully a power cycle will revive it, or it's something simple

Otherwise it's a new module and coding....

I think you will get the MOST out of this thread by checking WD and FUSES!

    Get it.............? MOST

    Seriously check them.
