    2010 Jetta RNS315 alarm question

I have a 2010 North American Jetta TDI with a RNS315 radio that has gone bad. Itís draining the battery. Can I delete it from the ECU, pull the harness off it, and not have it impact the alarm system? Dealer tells me that if I pull the harness of it, it will cause issues with the alarm. Dubious as to that claim. Need a few days to decide what I want to do next. Thanks!

I think if you pull the harness and take it out of the Gateway's Installation List, it should be OK.

I don't remember whether the the RNS 315 is in the Gateway as 37, 56, or both. Uncheck whichever (or both).

    [Select]
    [19-CAN Gateway]
    [Installation List]
Scroll down to the 37 and 56, make sure both are un-checked.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.
