Audi A3 8P Red steering wheel light on

Hi! My Audi A3 recently got red steering wheel light. On friends VCDS code we got is about steering torque sensor impossible signal. When we clear errors it goes away and steering assist works. After few days it comes back on an steering assist is off, steering is heavy. All technicians are saying "replace a rack". On some video on youtube some guy was talking about aftermarket headunits creating new channel 37 on his car and red light was on. Is that possible or I have to replace steering rack.
Ps. if is faulty sensor or harnes why is it working 5 days and then stops.
Please help!

I think replace rack.....same has happened to us here on numerous golf 5's......8P's cousin.....no amount of repair on it has been successful!

I got my starter motor rebuilt..cleared codes for steering torque sensor and terminal 50..now everyting is ok
If steering works an red light comes on with three beeps..car voltage is problem..or maybe just in my case
