Changed longcoding of central electric 09 byte 18

    Hi,

I messed around with an illegal vcds and was really sure i saved the longcoding but after i did, it wasn't
now i bought a legal version and now i'm a verified user

i tried to change in central electric 09, byte 18 because my DRL worked without my taillights and thats a little bit dangerous when it's getting dark in the afternoon.
so i read that in the US it was allowed to drive with DRL and taillights at the same time, and the mk6 is driving with it, and in some european MK6 it would work to.
Here in the Netherlands it's also allowed to drive with both lights at the same time now, so i would try to change it.

this did'nt work so after that i had to change the settings to wat it was, wich i did'nt save....

i made a autoscan and this is what came out of it

now there are several things that don't work anymore and i don't like that at all..

the rear lid doesn't work by central (un)lock (only by the middle button of the remote), and if i mark lock and unlock on byte 00 it unlocks and openes the lid for a cm by the remote unlock button.
the DRL isn't working at all now altough i marked it on in my MFA
    the mirror heating doesn't work
light in the trunk doesn't work
CH/LH doesn't work altough i marked it on in my MFA

i posted this thread first in 'product support' but i think it should be here...

hope someone can help me with this

    kind regards Jimmy

Actually, it belongs in the Tweaks section. Car is only broken because it has been incorrectly tweaked.

Have you looked for these files?

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

Have you checked the CodingLog.csv inside your VCDS' Debug directory? Maybe you can revert the value using the old coding, which should fix most of the issues. However if the old coding contained a 0x00 at Byte 18 you are a little out of luck as for the problems with the exterior lights.

There are certain ways to fix this adapting the control modules EEPROM. However VCDS is not capable of doing so.
You might be able to find someone with a VCP System or similiar who can fix this and will also enable what you want (parking light on for the tail lights together wit DRL). If you are willing for a trip to Berlin, Germany, I can also help you.

There is a big opportunity that the code is 00, but Berlin is a little bit to far, thanks anyway :lol
I must find someone in my own region.

I tried to find a pattern how the clone screwed up your BCM, but couldn't recognize any.
I'd suggest to go to your dealer to get an online replication of your factory coding....

Changing byte 18 on a BCM where it is zero is playing a dangerous game, which often ends up this way.

Maybe VCDS should include a warning box (that the result may be unexpected and irreversible without a dealer visit) when an attempt is made to change byte 18 of a relevant BCM from zero?

Yes, i was thinking of that to, but also i’m thinking i bought an original VCDS cable, i should be able to help myself now.
And than i’m curious where and how deep the information behind the 00 of byte 18 sits.
Is it accessible with VCDS, is it the coding of the adaption what need to be changed.....
If it is something you can’t see or reach with VCDS than i need the help of the dealer.
Anyway, my motto always is......’i can’t’ isn’t in my dictionary, until i have to write it in it myself.

Unfortunately, it is not accessible to VCDS. It's really quite nasty the way they did this.
