Hey guys and girls!

I laid my hand on an unlimited VCDS hex+can lead and would like to check that it is 100% genuine.
Would also like to find out if it was previously registered or if I need to pay the additional fee to register in my name.

Any ideas how?

Thanks guys and happy new year and all that

There is no such thing as "unlimited" hex-can. Every hex-can was unlimited. VIN limitation came with hex-net and hex-v2

Wow, you found some "low mileage" interface which seems to have been used only a little. Considering the interface is not registered and the price is realistic, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one like that

Feel free to make me an offer on it.

Like this then...
Based on the serial number in the screen-shot, it appears genuine.

It should have [Redacted] printed on the label.

It's from the last few months of production of those in 2016.

Thanks UWE,

Also, is it registered or unregistered, wondering if I would need to pay the $99 to put it in my name?

Thanks

It's not registered. But technically, since we know you're not the original owner, you should pay.

If I were you, I'd submit a registration request before some of the RT staff reads this and flags the record for that interface. ;)

Thanks mate I will do. I have removed the serial number from my posts just uncase anyone else decides to do anything with it or even if it can be used to clone.
Could you do the same please?

Thanks.

After reading some subsequent posts, I decided it will get too expensive and economically not efficient for me. Thanks for the offer anyway.

Serial numbers are by far not sufficient to make a working clone. But yes, the combo of long and short (both gone now) would enough for someone else to register it, although I'm not sure what someone who doesn't have the interface in their possession would gain by doing that.
