    Talking Trouble purge 7r golf cooling system

    Hello To start sorry for the spelling I'm french

    So here I have a problem I have in my possession a golf 7r 2017 I have to perform a bleed coolant is impossible to find the procedure on VCDS if someone can help me

    Maybe I'm wrong, but if you want to get the air put of the cooling-system, just fill the cooling tank and run the motor without putting the lid on the cooling tank. Air can escape and you can keep coolant on level. I have seen that doing to my car several times!

    Yes, but it is not good for the circuit I have a friend who can do it but he uses ODIS so I think it is possible to do it with VCDS

    ... when they did it to my car, a computer was connected, so they probably used ODIS also (not sure, didn't look at the computer screen at that time)...

    this is what the mechanic told me to do, and I did, when I had to disconnect a hose to insert the Webasto in series with the circuit. I know the official procedure uses a device that screws on the coolant tank and create vacuum.

    I never had any problem using the old-school method. so now I am asking you professional mechanics, why is the vacuum machine better and what is the risk when doing old-school?

    Are you talking from experience with this specific model of car? Because newer TDI’s (and probably anything else with a charge cooler) really do need to be bled using VCDS/ODIS. The low-(charge cooler, EGR, engine block) and high (cylinder head, turbo’s, DPF’s, etc) temperature coolant circuits share the same fluid reservoir, but are only directly linked during very specific engine conditions. Running the bleed procedure opens up all valves (and probably engages all 2/3 fluid pumps at 100%) to let the air out. Waiting until this happens by chance will have you running a partially empty cooling system, and these circuits definitely do not link during engine warm-up.

    @TS, with my car the engine needs to be running and the brake pressed down and held during the procedure. I dont remember if you also need to push the htrottle but VCDS provided all directions. If you release anything you need to hold down the procedure immediately aborts.
