LED Headlight range adjustment.

Hi Guys,

Just had my LED headlights on the 2018 Golf gti adjusted up as they were set way too low from factory, however, had a car full of passengers last night and it now adjusts the auto levelling too low so they point at the floor again.

Could anyone tell me which adaptation deals with the amount the lights lower depending on the amount of passengers/load?

I don’t think you can adjust that setting. If it adjusts the lights to the floor, I would say there’s a failure in them. The rear axle leveling sensor should be checked.

Activate the headlight adjustment mode before turning any adjustment screws on the headlights.

Thanks guys.

Interesting about the service mode as a VW tech adjusted them for me.

However, he did try to get access to the service mode before he adjusted them but it wouldn't accept the security code.

He manually adjusted them on each headlight with the beam checker and tested them to make sure they self adjusted when switched off and back on again, which they did.

I am assuming that because the lights were not in service mode when adjusted, they are not 'memorising' their new position, and adjusting accordingly when they are required to?

If so, does anyone know the SAC?

Does not need that. In basic setting for the headlights, you need to run the lights first to service position as mentioned earlier, then adjust the lights and after that there's another basic setting you need to do that stores the current settings as a new "zero" level.

I tried to make basic settings using VCDS several times in new cars with 4B module (Golf 2017+, Octavia 2017+ etc) but I was not able to get rid of the "Missing Calibration / Basic Setting" error using VCDS. I had to do the basic settings procedure using guided fault finding in O**S.
What's the trick or step-by-step guide to make this using VCDS?
