My inner rear tail lights have failed, although one reverse and fog still light. The other lights are ok when voltage is applied to them.

All the codes are similar: B12BE15 Right rear light; short circuit to positive. B12C815 Right rear fog light open circuit etc

When I bought the car, it looked like the hatch had been replaced (frags of glass in boot well), is wrong sub loom possible?

I've had a look at the wiring entering the hatch which looks ok.

So, is this a failed BCM, BCM coding issue or a wiring problem?

I don't want to shell out on coding software unless I need it.

It could be any one of the problems you suggest, if you don't own VCDS then it may be best to sign up to a Golf 7 owners forum and ask if any owners have had a similar problem.

The local garage will scan and give me the read for a small sum. But I guess I can't post it?

Get yourself a VCDS enthusiast cable. You can then use it for the next issue, tweaks and retrofits.

I disconnected the tailgate plugs and scanned again. CAN and short faults have gone. So it looks like the sub loom is incorrect.

Time to buzz it out with a digital multi-meter.

I'll get back on it tomorrow. I'll need to strip of the trim and get at the part label. There's 8 pins on one plug coming in and 5 coming out. So it looks like the wrong loom.
