What block should I use to check timing on BPY (2006 Passat 2.0T) engine?
What values/range is correct for those blocks?

I am used to 090-093 for the 1.8T and 2.7T engines, but have not used VAGcom for timing on 2.0T FSI engines yet.

BUT,----- looking at timing, my guess with all miss fires it will be all over the place anyway from retarded to advanced, don't really see the logic?

Noted MAF and also loss of circuit on some coils and ignition, timing would be way down on My list but JMO, Merry Christmas.

Yeah, lets not talk about the basket case; he is just lonely. Poor guy, no one to talk to.

I just put engine back together.
Car had massive misfires when I got it. Had hoped from really bad carbon build up. But carbon was not so bad (have seen much worse on those engines, with corresponding poor cold start, misfires, no power, poor gas mileage). But compression was low on one cylinder. Found worn lobe on intake cam (HPFP cam follower actually good) and wear on rocker on that cam. Put good used cams in, replaced roller, lifter. New gaskets, timing belt, cam chain tensioner, new vac pump seals.
Also broken flex pipe (replaced).

Just wanted to verify timing blocks (see Uwe) when starting engine.
Will then run a new full scan and post (separate post) to see what needs to be addressed next.

No. Haven't done anything yet with respect to running the engine. Want to verify timing first, hence the posted question. I did smoke/leak test (pressurizing through turbo inlet behind (intake box and MAF removed). Surprised to not even find smoke coming form oil cap (valve cover) or oil dip stick tube.

I refrain from smoke tests and prefer mechanicals performed with a vacuum or psi gauge used.
Injection is a big problem for these engines, so when doing a tear down, you should always replace injectors + rely on mechanical and visual verification of the HPP + key ways for timing & not afterward with engine running using VCDS is a big mistake!
Have you done leak down and compression tests yet?

Smoke tests are a godsend. That smoker i finally bought (after borrowing dozens of time from local shop) has become the 2nd best diagnostic tool (after VCDS), hands down.

Replacing injectors is not needed IMO at this time. I have new seals and tool on the way (not locally available so proceeded with old seals).
HPPF and cam follower inspected. Keyways fine.

Leak down and compression tests done after the intake valve cleaning and cam change (before further assembly). Looked good at this point. But as everyone knows, they can be inconclusive after a cleaning since the valves need some 'seating in' again. Had the car running now for a bit, will redo compression and leak down again next, naturally. Based on quick log of 91 , 93, 94 with very high numbers, I think my timing may be way off: 91-2: 28 91-3: 38 94-1: 38 ?
