She's asking for help, not for comments - why etc.

I don't understand where this, now stupid, world leads.
Because the best (only?) way to fix a problem is to understand the root cause and fix that, not by tinkering with the symptoms.

I think the solution is, if You can't help (or You aren't robot who do tasks by commands), stay quiet. Asking "why" never helps.

Years ago on my 1.8Turbo I put idle little bit higher because it helps significantly, I couldn't push a throttle too much to move the car from stand still and no more stalling. Emissions are not big problem if You put idle 100 rpm higher. In 1998 there were similar problems with 1.6mpi engines, VW did change idle from 650 to 720.
So I understand why someone wants to increase idle, even if everything is OK.

We'll have to agree to disagree about that

Current technology, which we all rely upon, only exists because people asked a few questions, including "why?".

If you work in the Nuclear industry and never ask "why" then maybe we should all be very afraid

There is no publicly available security access code, even with one - the setting in question will likely only be valid for the current ignition cycle. In other words, if you really want to address this - you may want to talk to a tuner instead. As indicated before, changing the idle speed will likely mess up your emissions results, which in itself may violate your local laws and/or be viewed as tax fraud.

FWIW, the latest FW I have seen for this ECM is 03C-906-027-BS @ 4209.
