So I went playing with this car this car this evening.

As far as I can see, the sunroof works fine. I wonder if it was iced up when Katie said it didn't work?

After clearing all the fault codes from the car, a bit of fiddling with the MMI's On/Off/Volume switch brought the MMI out of its coma.

I've reverted the CCM's coding to what we had in 2011 -- 0424125.
However, that did not fix the "01502 - Bulb for Rear Fog; Left (L46)" fault, which will not clear.
Curiously, it retains the 2018.05.16 date stamp. Yes, the car knows today is December 2.

The trunk has me baffled. The CCM sees when I actuate the switch in the door. The trunk unlocks on command using Selective Output Tests in the CCM. But somehow the logic between the switch and the trunk isn't doing what one would expect.

    Here's the current state:

Got a valet lock or switch on this thing? Both my Phaeton and Passat had one, in different forms, that would produce this behavior. I did some Googling on the topic of A6 valet switches, and it looks like you may have a magic lock cylinder in the trunk you should check. See the second post here:

Did you happen to try remote convenience functions? Having looked at the label file just now re: fogs, I see it requires coding and possibly adaptation (A061).

However, that did not fix the "01502 - Bulb for Rear Fog; Left (L46)" fault, which will not clear.
Curiously, it retains the 2018.05.16 date stamp. Yes, the car knows today is December 2.
I don't see any rear fog options in the CCM coding, or in adaptations. There are two Selective Output Tests, one for each side. I suppose it's possible the lamp is always present and always diagnosed, regardless of whether the car is delivered in a region with a rear fog-capable headlight switch installed.

If it bothers you (I know it would bother me ) you could pull the bulbs out and have a look. I don't have access to an A6 repair manual at present, to see where rear fog lamp would be positioned. Maybe it's a separate bulb, maybe it's activation of an existing light, maybe it's a dual-filament bulb and one side is burnt out, or not present because an incorrect single-filament bulb has been used.

I don't have rear fogs and I'm not sure what they're supposed to look like. The SOTs imply you should have one on each side, so you could compare left and right, possibly swap bulbs. You could also trigger the SOT for the right side to see what it looks like, if anything, and for the left, to see if it influences the stored fault in any way (might go intermittent/clearable, or bring the date current, or who knows).

Edit: did some Googling, looks like they are essentially your red taillights in a bright mode, not white/clear like your reverse lights, bright as the brake lights but not in the same physical position. So check for two taillight bulbs with one burnt out, or a single bulb with dual filaments with one burnt out, etc.

    Bingo!

I wasn't sure what "under the lip of the trunk" meant, so I looked all over the inside of the trunk lid first. Nope, nada.

But then I found it, and since the Audizine thread didn't have a picture, I'll post one for posterity:

Yes, I changed it from horizontal to vertical before I took that picture, and now things work as one would expect them to.

I owe you a beverage of your choice!

Nah, haven't bothered. The remotes were playing up too; so I got in the car with both keys and went looking at the relevant MVBs in the 05-Kessy module. After pressing all the buttons on both remotes (and noting that the bits in the MVBs seemed to be changing appropriately), both remotes are working as expected. However, I haven't tested the remote convenience stuff.

I will collect on that, at some point or another.

It probably wouldn't bother me either, in your position. But it was new problem to me and I just have to tilt at interesting problems for a while, until it goes away or I'm eventually defeated. I've grown to accept and embrace the warm orange glow of the engine-still-present lamp in my W12.

If you're ever bored, that pair of Selective Output Tests, comparing left and right actual behavior, would probably tell you a lot without any disassembly.

A check-engine light would be different. What's mildly surprising about this is that there's no bulb-out warning in the instrument cluster as a result of this DTC. So the only way one would ever notice this problem is via a scan.

Yep. The car will be here for about 3 weeks come mid-month (semester break).

    Deal!

Who knows when that'll happen though, given the complete and total design upheaval being talked about for the last couple weeks...

My 05 A6 4F NAR has them. And this...

Replaced mine with Sylvania Silverstar. Only operate on the next pull after front fog lights. Deters bumper riding drivers as they think it's brake lights.
