How to do Basic Settings for 7-speed S-Tronic DQ381 (0GC) A3 2017 1.8TFSI Quattro?

Hi.

I'm not 100% sure the correct steps to do a basic settings for a 7-speed DQ381 (0GC) transmission. In the wiki there are a few different ways of doing this, but I cant find any for my DQ381. I'm having trouble with judder/clutch hogging and late response issues in 1, 2 and 3 shift. It is very random and hard to replicate for the dealer/service. The car has been like this since
new (18 months).

Could someone help me? And do you recommend doing some more resets etc?

Hello, you could try this procedure:

0BH - Basic Settings
- Standstill Adaptation procedure for UDS Controllers

Prerequisites:
- Transmission fluid temperature greater than 15°C
- Do NOT continue if the temp is out of specs! -
- Advanced Measuring Values = [Control Module temperature]
- Selector lever in [P]
- Engine idle speed, do not press accelerator pedal
- Parking brake and foot brake applied during the entire procedure

- Note: Not all transmission controllers support this function

0BH - Basic Settings Procedure

- Be sure all the Prerequisites are followed, important! - The brake pedal must be depressed during the entire procedure.

[Select]
[02 - Transmission]

[Basic Settings - UDS]
- Select [Basic settings of transmission]

Next click [Show Measuring Data] and select:
- [Engine speed]
- [Main status of abort code basic setting]
- [Status of basic setting]
- [Status of basic setting data for clutch]
- [Status of basic setting data; gear selector]
- [Sub-status of abort code basic setting]

Then press [Go!]

- During the basic setting procedure, there maybe some loud gear shifting noises from the transmission, this is normal.

Basic settings may not complete successfully if:
- The fluid temperature gets too hot.
- Brake is released

Once complete, there should be an indication of this in the [Status of Basic Settings].

Then click - [Done, Go Back] and Check for fault codes.

Hi, and thanks for the instructions.

I did the basic settings and it went OK. No errors or fault codes.

However I believe I need to drive the car for some time so the adaptive stuff is done and complete.

I still can feel the shifting between 2 and 3 gear like before. I just hope it will be smoother over time. It’s worse on downshift, more noticeable like before.

But can I do some more basic settings to fix this? More options to reset?
What does this “Start double clutch fast adaptation” do?

Hmm... not enable to edit my previous post.
Another thing, I’m experiencing some slight delay from when I press the throttle and the car starts to accelerate. It’s like 1 second and I feel when the clutch is releasing if that makes sense.

Would a throttle body alignment (TBA) help?

Hello,

What does this “Start double clutch fast adaptation” do?

- Unknown, sorry we do not have any information as to exactly what many of the Basic Settings and Adaptations do. Sometime we can find information and procedures when they are mentioned in technical documents, repair manuals and factory test plans. Other than that we do not have any more information, you can contact the manufacture to see if they can help, since they did design the vehicle.

With that said, we do not have anymore information about any "more basic settings" or "more options to reset", perhaps there is something internally wrong with the transmission or check for any software updates with the transmission.

.. You could try and perform a TBA with VCDS in the [01-Engine] controller, it would not hurt.

I’ve been asking my dealer about software updates for a year, but nothing. I am also talking to a company who optimise the TCU software and hopefully they can solve it. It cost a lot of money so I’m not sure yet.

But I will try to do a TBA. I guess this is the correct page with instructions and UDS for my car.

Another thing, I’m experiencing some slight delay from when I press the throttle and the car starts to accelerate. It’s like 1 second and I feel when the clutch is releasing if that makes sense.

CZPB is one of the new "Budack" cycle engines. I have one of these mated to a manual transmission, and pulling away from a standstill (and driveability in general) is interesting to say the least. I took mine back to the dealer to complain about the hesitation when pulling away and they told me to use more throttle :mad:

Could this be what you are experiencing?

Hmm, it could be. For me this happens in 2 and 3 gear. I feel that the clutch is releasing, not smooth and maybe out of sync.

For me It’s different from a full stop to drive again. I always turn off the start/stop engine system. But for me it seems like it’s a delay because of the start/stop system and if you disable this, the software does not change its parameters.

Some history:
When I received the car brand new, the shifting was smooth, then it got worse after around two weeks of driving and never got better. Starting to judder and hogg in 1,2 and 3. My problem has always been that the transmissions characteristics was changing on each drive. Very random and hard to show the technicians. No errors in the system and they say it’s nothing wrong with the car. We did, after a year, change the transmission oil. No flushing tho.

Then I bought a obd11 dongle and did the basic settings after reading that this might help. And oh boy it did. I would say 60% of my problems was gone. But nothing like when the car was brand new and first two weeks. So that’s why I bought vcds to see if can get some help and do some more.

But here we are. No new software, Audi says everything is in order, and I’m enjoying noticeable more noise from the transmission and some random judder/hogging. So I’m still trying to solve the last 40%.

Anything I can do? I dont know if there’s a new firmware update.
