Hi. Does anybody know what’s involved with fitting a new tpms control unit to a 2012 Passat b7? Can it be programmed with vcds?

The Passat B7 TPMS has to be parameterized to your particular car's tyre combinations and their respective tyre pressures. This can't be done with VCDS.
If you're buying a used module, you may get lucky and have the correct tyre sizes and pressures already loaded into the module.
