Hey everyone,
I'm very puzzled by an issue that just surfaced on my dad's 2004 V10 TDI Touareg, it only seems to happen when engine is warmed up.
Definitely felt engine shuddering (feels like fuel starvation) at low rpm in 6th gear highway cruising, dissapears when revs go up or downshift to 5th
The only code in the 2nd engine ECU is Cyl 6 intermittent misfire detected.
I immediately resorted to a compression test on cyl 6 and then cyl 1 on other bank for comparison
getting close to 400psi on both which is very good, so this is not a valve/piston ring/ plasma coating issue
On a cold start engine feels perfectly normal, no shaking
Group 13 MVB for inj quantity on cyl 6 = +1.24 mg/stroke (when cold)
When engine warms up closer to 90C = +2.25 mg/stroke up to +2.89, compared to other cylinders 7-10 hovering around -0.00 to -0.28
Another thing i noticed, and i would need someone from Ross Tech to confirm
MVB group 007 field #3 in Engine ECU and Engine II (for cyls 6-10) shows me different temperatures 17C Bank 1 vs 32 C Bank 2
Is this the fuel rail temperature sender for each bank? (Fuel temperature sender G81) How can a difference in fuel temps reported to ECU affect engine running? <-- Million dollar question
Other than this, the fuel filters have been recently replaced, this issue started becoming more noticeable when temps started getting cold
My only other hunch will be this is fuel starvation caused by the fuel pump at the back of the head on Bank 2, however i've yet to replace one of those
