2013 CC TPMS Issues

please find the below scan of my issue. when starting the car, the TPMS light will flash for approx. 1 minute then stay constant. i have had all of the sensors tested, inlcuding the spare, and they are all giving out the correct signals. for some reason there is no communication with the module itself.

please somebody give me some insight on this. if the module is bad, where is it?

Do you have direct TPMS - that is sensors in your wheels that provide the actual pressure of each tyre? If so then it would appear that there is a loss of comms to the module. Check the fuses/connections remove/refit the connector to the module. If you can't bench test the module and you have comms throughout the cables then it might have died.

thank you for your reply. the TPMS units are in the wheels and they have all been tested and are giving out the proper signals, the module is simply not receiving the signal. if i knew where the module was in this car, i would try to test it, but i have no idea where it is as there isn't much information about it on the internet

If you have ETKA it should display the location of the module. Failing in that there's always erwin where you can download all your car's data.

Have you measured them and identified the fuse responsible for terminal 30, 15 and 31 for the 0x65 using WD in RTFB?

after looking in ETKA, the antenna under the rear bumper is also the control module. knowing that there are problems with the trunk harnesses in CC's, would it be safe to assume that the trunk harness connects to the antenna/controle module and is possibly damaged? i've heard of trunk harness damage causing issues with trunk opening, trunk lighting, tail lights and backup camera, but have yet to hear anything about TPMS, but at this point wouldn't be surprised if this were the case

Have you reviewed the wire diagram ( WD ) in the repair manual ( RTFB ) & measured for power( terminal 15 DIN spec battery voltage switched ) ( terminal 30 DIN spec battery voltage constant ) and ground ( Terminal 31 DIN spec switched ground ) at the respective controller, further did you identify the fuses in the wire diagram that are responsible for the tire pressure monitoring system ( 0x65 ) ?

It isnt the case. The wiring to the TPMS modules are part of the larger wiring harnesses running on both sides of the vehicle.

Since your module is not talking, I would take a peek under the rear bumper on the right side and check the connector to the module for water ingress and other damage.

thank you! i'll look into this and see what i can find. do you by chance have access to a wiring diagram to show what pin is which on the connector so i can test it?

so im still dealing with this issue. i have gotten a wiring diagram to the antenna under the rear bumper and have confirmed that all the wires are good. it would appear the antenna is dead, since everything else seems to work. since they are around $300 new from VW and other sites, i plan to get a good one from the junk yard when the weather starts to warm up. in the mean time, i want to turn off the light as it is driving me nuts.

in VCDS, i went to "17 - Instruments", "Long Coding Helper", and under "Byte 2", i unchecked " TPMS Active/Installed, i then went to "46 - Central Convenience", "Long Coding Helper", and under "Byte 17", checked "TPMS Not Installed/Inactive".

i did this several days ago, and have put 60 or so miles on the car since then, but the light still won't turn off. is there something i am missing?

You can uncheck the TPMS from the CAN gateway installation list. No other coding should be necessary. That will disable the module and the light won't go on. You will, however, have a fault code of "module incorrectly coded" in CAN gateway because you've unregistered the TPMS module but this shouldn't be a problem because you were going to replace the TPMS module eventually.

I do this every start and end of winter because my winter wheels don't have TPMS sensors installed.

Not coding, but Installation List!

Untick module 65, which is the TPMS.

interesting, i'll have to look into that when i get home this evening. never seen that page before. hopefully that is possible to get to since my car is US spec

And set all the other coding bits in other modules back to stock, now that you still have it fresh in your memory. Otherwise you’ll have another situation when you have replaced the TPMS module. Only uncheck the module in the installation list as mentioned by siLc.

got home from work yesterday and unchecked TPMS in the Installation List, works like a charm. so much relief has i have been fooling with this thing for so long. now to just find an new module/antenna and get everything working like it should again
