I have an early 2010 RHD Mk6 Golf 1.6TDI S (105PS) 5 speed manual UK spec. It already has the Highline Computer operated by the wiper stalk. Presently it does not have a MFSW and has the midline steering control module 1K0-953-549-CQ with a Type 2 Slip ring, SW 0111, no Steering Angle Sensor and no info re LIN according to Ross tech Wiki..

Initially I am trying to determine the most suitable Highline steering control module to get for the vehicle (before getting into the correct coding). The new Steering wheel I have to fit is from a 2012 Mk6 Golf GTD it is the 3 spoke round (not flat bottom). I think the part number is 3C8 419 091 BE E74 or 3C8 959 537D according to the stickers. (see attached pics for these and airbag below).

I have been looking at the 1K0-953-549-CD as this doesn't have a steering angle sensor or the 1K0-953-549-CH which does have the steering angle sensor. Do I need one with or without the sensor?? Both of these are similar part numbers to my midline version. Or would I need a newer one that matches the 2012 new wheel? Is it important what LIN version it supports re the wheel as I presently haven't the specs on the new wheel.

Both of these (1K0-953-549-CD/CH) have support for LIN versions 1.3 & 2.0. Again I am not sure which of these I would need for the new MFSW. I would want the wheel to interface with the MDI media unit (connected to a RCD310 EU Radio and USB SSD for Music). Originally the car was fitted with the VW badged Bury bluetooth hands free tel. unit which was stripped out and replaced with the full Bury equivalent Bury CC9068. This presently interfaces with the MDI. I wonder whether it will work with the wheel buttons?

I have had a full auto scan done here below and any help to begin with here would be greatly appreciated:

I'd get the 1K0-953-549-CD since it's similar to your current setup, except the LIN functionality.

Thanks for the advice.
Just been reading around most of the day, I came across this post in this thread https://forums.ross-tech.com/showth...2010-gti-to-2007&p=50082&viewfull=1#post50082

Hi Gregg,

..if you were installing a LIN 1.3/Mk5 steering wheel. That would be the easier way to go and MFA/MFSW controls using the DDP protocol would be compatible with the factory protocols in the comfort system, radio and instrument cluster.

Since you want to put a LIN 2.0/Mk6 wheel on the vehicle the direct replacement path won't work. You need a Highline unit that supports a Steering Angle Sensor and the proper LIN Version .. [/B]

I realise it's slightly different as his original midline had a sensor so is replacing with a CH version, but can I thus assume my steering wheel from a 2012 Mk6 is thus a LIN 2.0 version?

Just might make it easier to find a suitable control unit as most of the CD's seem to be Chinese clones.
Thus a 1K0-953-549-CE might work okay? Or perhaps the 1K0-953-549-CF though I am unsure of how this affects it:
#2: Manual Transmission only, does NOT support Ignition Key Lock. Mine is manual but what does the ignition key lock do, that is not supported in the CF version?

Thanks. So makes no difference to mine as manual. So any that are LIN 2.0 without the sensor and slip ring 2 SW 0111 should be okay

I've ordered an 1K0953549CF as I believe that to be compatible as it is a Mk6 MFSW with Lin2.0. Presently as my Golf came with the Highline Computer I have the 1K0953519J RHS wiper stalk with the 2 extra switches, 1 on the end and the button underneath. Would I also need to change this to a 1K0953519H wiper stalk without the 2 switches for the Control module to program correctly with the new wheel. Or do the cars with the MFSW come with both. I would want the buttons on the wheel to work as intended and not conflict with the wiper stalk if possible. I had a read around the forum and read one post saying that if you used the stalk buttons with a new MFSW (on the J variant) then the wheel buttons became inoperative until the engine was turned off then on again. On another thread someone mentioned if the J version was fitted the MFSW buttons operated to mimic the stalk buttons but not as they would without the J version stalk.
