Hi Guys,

2018 Golf with LED headlights.

For some reason, the dipped beam is set quite low from the factory, so i would like to raise them slightly to light up a little more of the road ahead.

Seeing as they have auto levelling, is there anywhere in VCDS i can raise them?

It seems there is no longer a range control module, but a couple of left and right lights modules.

I had a quick look in those but i cant see anything related to aim adjustment (unless i am missing it!)

Any help appreciated.

4B is the light control module in these newer cars.

Nothing special, run the lights to adjustment position which puts them to center. Raise them and re-learn the new center position.

Yes, manually using the adjustment screw. There's at least two screws. Other adjusts the height and the other adjusts the lights sideways. There also might be a third adjustment screw which adjusts the high beam led unit independently. So make sure you have the right screw before doing any adjustments.

Even the posting in the link states that no software stuff required, I would still drive the lights to adjustment position before doing ANY mechanical adjustment. At least in Leon it adjusts the headlights slightly even the car is parked on flat surface. So without doing this first, there might be some ill effects to the adjustment motors.

Just for personal education; may I ask what difference will there be if you just raise them manually with the headlight adjusting screws? - because that's what I did. :facepalm:

The self adjustment is the only issue. If it has a ”wrong” center spot, it will probably adjust them a bit off all the time.

Like I wrote, in my case the lights were not levelled even the car was on level, until I ran the adjustment position basic setting. That setting raised the lights a bit. It was clearly visible against the wall.

Think I'm gonna have to go through the settings properly! My driveway is sloped, so it'll have to wait until I get time at work.
