Powered Tailgate minor issue

Hi All,
I have a B6 Passat variant with factory fitted powered tailgate.

I can't be certain this was the trigger however at one point someone fairly forcibly closed the boot not realising that it was powered.

The tailgate still opens and closes however once the motors are fully up, the position of the tailgate is now sagging down by about 100mm. So it's now very easy to hit my head if not paying attention.. :banghead:

I have been through the process of setting the upper limit at a very low level, then again whilst holding the boot up as far as it used to go, but it still sags back down.
I have replaced the gas struts with new ones of the correct part number and nm rating.

I then replaced both motors with revision G (originals were rev F) and went through the process as described in O..S which says to open the tailgate about half way, then press both internal and external buttons simultaneously and it will open fully.
It is SLIGHTLY better than the old motors by about 20mm however it is still not the same as it used to be...still sagging down at the top of the travel.

I inspected the toothed drive pins that connect the motors to the hinges (thinking that maybe somehow they slipped a few teeth?) but I can't see any obvious sign of damage.
MVB at open shows motors at 98%...

Anyone have any similar experience or perhaps another suggestion? Not the end of the world but it would be nice to have them back to full extension.

My 7P T'reg does NOT like to cooperate when running Output tests (my calibration is completed via Basic Settings) but you may want to see if anything is supported when clicking 03-Output tests followed by Next.

Thanks Dana,
Unfortunately there don't appear to be any output tests or basic settings for my motors.
I tried holding the interior and exterior buttons down together for 5 and 10 seconds however that doesn't appear to have made a difference.
It's fine for now, just a minor annoyance. At some point in the future I'll try pulling the motors out again and checking if there is some way to adjust how the drive pin is rotated with respect to the hinge.

Thanks to Rhinopower I have this issue fixed

Adaptation channel 1 is the 'adjustable opening stop' (thanks Golfi_vend for the correct description). Mine was set to 348. Changed this to a higher value (400, but I need to test if smaller values still work) and the tailgate now opens back up to full height!
Not sure why the adaptation routine isn't correcting this on it's own, but I'm just happy to not be bumping my head any more.

Update:
Channel 1 reset itself back to 355 after power cycle. So tailgate wasn't going to full height again.
I ran channel 0 (resetting of all adaptation values) and then set channel 1 to 370, this now seems to be surviving power cycles and lid is opening properly

(although when channel 1 is set to 380 or 400 it actually does go a little higher...but this setting doesn't stick)

Have you tried this:

Force tailgate half open manually
Press both buttons at inside and outside at the same time
Tailgate should move then up

Check after ignition cycle, if Channel 1 has changed.

That procedure didn’t work for me. Only adjusting the figure in adaptions gave me full opening

I wish I knew why kamolds is resetting, but at least we know the motors are capable of fully opening, as it was looking like they needed replacing otherwise

NEtech when you say manual, do you mean short press the tailgate release on the keyfob so that it unlocks, but not moves, then push it up?

I think inside is the taigate closing button on the trim. Outside is the opening handle.

Not having any luck unfortunately, I'm sure I must be missing something really simple...

1. Change adaptation channel 1 in 6D deck lid control module (in my case it kept resetting to 355. I changed it to 380).
2. Press tailgate open button and confirm it opens to full height.
3. Press tailgate close button. Once the tailgate is almost closed, push the tailgate open button to stop the motors.
4. Gently push the tailgate up until you feel the motors release, then push it up to around half way open.
5. Push both the exterior tailgate open button, and the tailgate close button in the bottom of the interior trim simultaneously. Tailgate opens to full height. Close.
6. After locking and unlocking the car, has been reset to 355 again

Is there a possibility that getting the adaptation value to stick you need to input correct security access? Some modules behave like this after power cycle but using correct security access makes the values stick (like steering assist)
