Hi all, long story short, I had my car in for a check under warranty to check for a clunk when I reversed. It sounds like and engine mount when you pull away in reverse.
If this clunk happens in reverse, when you first pull away again in 1st gear you will hear that again.

Also, down changing into second gear in Sports mode can be a little abrupt, almost as if the car drops the clutch.

Anyway, dealer rang to say no faults could be found and that the clunk was normal behavior. in any event, for the second issue the mechanic checked the database and found there was a software TPI for this gearbox. This has been applied.

Sadly the dealer will not tell me the name of the TPI, nor any description of what it does. Apparently the mechanic mentioned something about "fast valves" in the check video.

When I drove the car away I now notice that the gear changes are a bit sloppy, almost as if its slipping the clutch when changing.
The rev counter needle also reflect this. When it would change from say second to third the needle would drop instantly lower to match the next gears revs. Now is drops down much slower indicating more of a clutch slip.

This makes the car pretty horrible to drive now, almost feels like the old fashioned slush boxes filled with oil!!
It no longer has that nice urgency and responsiveness which is typical DSG behavior.

The dealer said the software cannot be removed nor rolled back.

Does anyone know what this TPI might have been, whether you can indeed remove it or what I can do in order to get the DSG gear changes back to how they were?

Of course, the clunk is still there too!

Cheers.

   ROD: EV_TCMDQ200021_VW27.rod
   VCID: 3D27C4318DF4998F59E-8068

And now after:

Code:
Address 02: Auto Trans (J743) Labels: 0CW-927-769.clb
   Part No SW: 0CW 300 047 E HW: 0AM 927 769 K

Programming or roll backs can't be done with VCDS and even if it could, I very much doubt RT would roll back a SMOG device and the 0x02 is indeed a smog related MIL illuminating system.

Confused....you think this could be an emissions related thing? 0x02 (5202) was previous numbers, now 5x60 (5260)....

Not sure....this is more of a drivability thing as far as I can tell. My hunch is it reduces the pressure of the mechatronic valves or slows them to smooth out the gear change since I mentioned about a jolt in a second gear down change.

I also know there is a recall campaign called 34H5 for the DQ200 boxes but not sure if this was it or not. Dealer is being very secretive about what the TPI does or its description/name/number.

I wouldnt expect VCDS to roll this back but would hope the dealer can with their setup....VAS?

Can you interrogate the 0x02 using 0x33 in OBD2 mode in VCDS and does it display a CAL ID and CVN of Mode 9 does it not?

Please post the data.........

You want a copy of all the menus under the Generic ODB2 section?

Not sure what you mean by 0x33 enter modes available otherwise.

Does this help me though to understand a) what the TPI is supposed to do, and whether I can get those snappy gear changes back rather than the slippy ones I have now.

I gather it cannot be removed which seems a bit naff. Most software you put on electronics these days can be removed. Perhaps not in the automotive world it seems.

They still can't downgrade.

I'll check TPI later.

Hi golfi_vend, did you have any luck finding out any information about this TPI?

Cheers,
Chris

Ok small update. Been back to the dealer today to take the master technician out for a test drive. First thing, we were able to find out the cause of the clunk....it wasnt the gearbox but the brake calipers. #rolleyes!!!!

Secondly, yes that TPI has slowed down (or smoothed if you like) the gear changes. Sadly it doesn't appear to be removable but the technician will call Skoda UK to see if there is a way to either remove the software by rolling back or flashing on the original coding again.

Is there anything in VCDS that I could do to speed up the gear changes to how they were before? Some sort of tweak in the coding?

Hey,
Sorry, I realised it is Skoda way too late. I don't have Skoda subscription for ErWin. I do have ODIS for Skoda and can see TPI-s, but only when connected to the car.
VW/AUDI i can check from ErWin.

Thanks for checking, it will/should be the same parts since a Skoda is just one of the VAG family? I imagine it would share the same TPI's?

One dealer mentioned it would be worth resetting the learning process parameters.

I think VCDS can do this under 02 Auto Trans > Basic Settings?

There are a lot of values here. Could any be of particular help to help the gearbox reset the shifting speeds?

I couldn't locate the TPI either but SWL 5260 is listed here: https://vag-flashinfo.de/index.php?partno=0CW+300+047+E&as=

He doesn't redistribute flash files or have a list of TPIs but that's an excellent place to search for the existence of a flash.

Basic Settings wise I would be tempted to try this: http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthr...aption-procedure&p=76381&viewfull=1#post76381

I would NOT select Resetting of all adaptation values. I don't know what that does in the 0CW but the results are undesirable in some modules.

Before I go resetting my DSG TCM and causing odd behavior or behavior that cannot be removed does anyone know what the following actual mean and do?

• Resetting of all adaption values - obvious, all values to factory default - This one will often wipe a modules parameterization. Don't do it!
• Reset temperature model - ?
• Basic setting of transmission - Reset TCM to default values?
• Put gear selector in neutral - If the gear selector is faulty?
• Put gear selector in disassemble position - I gather this is set for if you remove / replace the Mechatronic unit.
• Reset clutch data - ? Logging reset?
• Reset gear selector data - to learn which position the selector is in?
• Reset clutch movement pressure characteristic curve - how much pressure is being applied on the clutches?
• Start double clutch fast adaption - ? Reset both clutch adaption?
• Reset pressure supply of start-up adaption of e-motor - ?
• Reset CAN installation info - ?
• Reset clutch characteristic curve - ?
• Reset logging data for clutch 1 - Log data reset?
• Reset driving percentages per selector lever position - ?
• Reset logging data for clutch 2 - Log data reset?
• Reset error statistics 1 kiss point adaption - log data for where the clutch starts to apply?
• Erase counter for start and stop processes - ?
• Reset logging data of pressure reduction - ?
• Reset odometer reading and adapter counter - to reset learning time frame?
• Reset distance driven of RRD - reset learning distance?
• Write basic setting data into the EEPROM - When you have flashed the TCM with new software?
• Setting transmission running performance to vehicle running performance - ? Interesting setting!
• Resetting the transmission mileage - If you were to replace clutch packs perhaps?
• Reset coupling data for unsteady friction values - Clutch pack related?
• Set the clutch mileage to zero - If you replace clutches?
• Loschen der Abschalt- und Resetdaten / Cancel the shutdown and reset data - Translated from German as you can see, abort a TCM shutdown?

Technically my car is still under dealer warranty and I have logged my issue with Skoda UK Customer Services so whilst they are investigating I am loath to start fettling ;)
Unless, there would be no issue for a learning reset for instance. What I am after is a clutch change time/delay reset I think.

It turns out the dealer should have indeed consulted me before flashing the TCM and updating it, especially important since this update cannot be rolled back.

Also interesting to see from Dana's link is that whilst my version and the latest for Skoda is 5260 (from original 5202), VW, Audi and Seat have a newer version, 5261. Wonder what that does, does it resolve the issues I experience I wonder.

Cheers!
