Several days ago the left dip beam on my 2011 Caddy wouldn’t turn off as soon as the van is opened. No matter where the light switch is positioned the light remains on. The only way to turn off the light is to lock the van. After 40 seconds the light turns off. There are no fault codes but, when the lights are switched to dip beam the lamp warning light is illuminated on the dash. And ideas ?

isn't this just the coming home/leaving home function activated?

Tried that, but the lamp never switches off. It will stay on until the van is locked. No matter what mode of headlights I have on the left lamp is illuminated
DRL: left lamp on
Sidelights: left lamp on
Dipped beam: left lamp on.
All lights off: left lamp on.

Allright, maybe there is something wrong with your wiring or your BCM. Do you have a VCDS system and if so, could you post a so-called autoscan (see below)?
This way we can quickly look along and see if there is anything the car tells us that's wrong.

My friend did plug it in and there was an issue. 01305 which related to an aftermarket radio. Cleared and removed from installation list. 7 fault codes were present with lights but before I could list them he had cleared them all. Rescanned and now no faults. However, problem still exists. I shall rescan tomorrow and hopefully have faults to report.

Ok, rescanned the van and the faults are back. They all pertain to lighting faults.

Does the left light have a dedicated relay? If so, it could be fused closed.

I'd appreciate the full scan. This doesn't have much meaning without context. See below on how to make an autoscan.
