I checked my sources. You need at least SW1601 for AirCare to work. I've heard there is unofficial file for flashing it, but it's in the hands of certain people...even I don't have it.

Either find that file or replace Clima with correct one.

I have no clue on how to find the file, and even if I did I have no facility to flash the panel. Guess I will live without AIR CARE.

I went to the dealer once and he tried to flash the panel, apparently ODIS refused to do it because that panel is not supposed to be in my car. dealer did not know if there is a way to force flash with ODIS.

It can be done. ODIS can be used to flash offline as well but you need to provide the correct file for it. But online is not possible due to the reasons you already mentioned.

this is becoming an endless story and I am getting kind of upset. I had decided that I want the "right" panel, since my car is supposed to show the AIR CARE thing.

the panel HW04/SW1801 did indeed bring back the AIR CARE function on the display, but since it was a panel with OFF button, and no Webasto button, the aux heater got upset and I had to put the old HW03/SW1001. damn it. I sent the newer panel back.

I ordered another one HW04/SW1601 with the correct buttons, but this comes out of a Passat and gives some DTC about rear ventilation flaps that probably are present in a Passat but not in a Golf. there does not seem to be any way to disable this "rear" climate feature via coding or adaptations. in addition, when pressing the MENU button, NOTHING comes out on the infotainment. damn it. I will have to send this one back as well. the seller will think I am crazy.

does anybody have ETKA access to check what is the part number of the panel that my car would have if it had the 4A3/9M9 PR-codes?

THANKS ;)

also, does anybody know if panels with HW04 but SW that starts with X, like X073, would be compatible with AIR CARE?

there are so many different revisions of the panel that I am actually wondering why they build so many. it just makes me more upset.

so, thinking about that the original panel was 5G0907044BK/HW04/SW1601 I have found and ordered a 5G0907044BM/HW04/SW1601, that has seats and Webasto button.

hopefully it will be the last one :D

I have PartsLink24 (independent mechanic version of ETKA) but you've taken your VIN out of your posted Auto-Scans so I can't look you up.

I got your PM with the VIN.

I have this pulled up in PL24 right now and it is truly epic. I've never seen anything like it. There are thirty nine (39) possible Climatronic control panels for this vehicle depending on PR codes and build date.

so, thinking about that the original panel was 5G0907044BK/HW04/SW1601 I have found and ordered a 5G0907044BM/HW04/SW1601, that has seats and Webasto button.

Good news is, I think you're on the right track.

I agree your stock panel is 5G0 907 044 BK "display and operating unit with control unit for electr. regulation air conditioner" for build dates 05/16 - 10/16.

Your current retrofit is 5G0 907 044 BE "display and operating unit with control unit for electr. regulation air conditioner, for vehicles with auxiliary and seat heating" for build dates 08/12 - 05/16.

So your current panel has the right buttons, but your car's build date is June 22, 2016.

For THAT, you need 5G0 907 044 BM "display and operating unit with control unit for electr. regulation air conditioner, for vehicles with auxiliary and seat heating" for build dates 06/16 - 10/16. That's what you just ordered.

For this particular set of functionality, there is still a third set of build date ranges for this same model year, 11/16 - 01/17, and that part would be 5G0 907 044 CG. I don't have any information about what's different or why. I shit you not, every single build and button variant they have for this model-year, there are three copies of almost all of them, depending on what point in model-year 2016 it was built. It very likely indicates that software version change, and introduces Air Care.

you made my day. thank you.

the CG panel would be available from my dealer with SW1801 or SWX068, I think the BM will do great as it's SW1601 like the BK which was stock.

BM panel arrived today, works perfectly and AIR CARE is back. I am relieved and happy this is over.

just to provide all information, I was finally able to browse ETKA, it says the BM panel has been discontinued at the end of 2016 and the CG would be the replacement.

now I'll have to understand why the Aux Heater keeps logging two errors even if it works just fine, but I'll open another thread for that.
