Correct, very much like the Mk.4 VWs, e.g. the Mk.4 R32.

Ok, but that gives me a VERY small selection of parts vehicles... why can't I hybrid the ME7.5, with, or with out the J519/ J533?

I don't think anyone's saying you must have/must not have a gateway.

What we're saying is you must have an ECU and TCM (plus matching ABS/ESP, if you expect that to actually work) that are known to peacefully coexist in some existing vehicle somewhere.

IIRC there exist vehicles with ME 7.1/7.5 with a CAN gateway. The presence or lack of a gateway isn't the deciding factor in anything here.

Saw these guys on Youtube, they've done a few cars, and I thought of you.

This is one of a couple DSG mash-ups they've done, and this one is to a 1.8T 20V. They're using some sort of custom DSG management box. Might be worth looking into.

Another, different engine but still with custom DSG management.

Well we have gone in a different direction with the 1.8t dsg kit car... now the donor IS an 06' Audi A3 2.0t (timing belt) engine and its matching DSG transmission.

Customer and designer are figuring out wheel/tire size combinations and have come up with this...

opting to go with 245/35/19 tires for the front, and 275/35/19 for the rear. The difference in diameter is 0.8" or about 3.1% (about 25 revolutions per mile difference per https://tiresize.com/comparison/)

this shouldn't affect the ABS module and shift timing for the DSG, should it?
