Failure ABS coding Passat 3c5 2006

I have got a problem after the battery has been unplugged and the +/- wire was put together, and the coding of the ABS modul was changed to 00000014, and it is not the right code.

We get a code from NETECH 0029986 but it did not resolve the problem with the ABS module, we have found another code on Ross-Tech WIKI 0013602, but i dont think it is the right code for this model, because it still have the failour.

The car is a 2006 VW Passat 3c5 2,0 TDI (140hp) Variant.

Anyone that can help me with the right coding for the ABS module or a hint to where to find it.

I have changed the ABS sensor on the left front wheel and the rear back wheel - but on the back whell i now got no signal.
And furthermore the ABS module switches on the ABS braking while driving.

And it is not possible to make
Basic Setting Sensor for Steering Angle (G85)
and
Steering Limit Stop setting.

Please reply with any suggestions what to do.

Niels is very rarely wrong about such things.

Please do download and install the English version of VCDS. It will happily co-exist with the Danish version you are currently using. Please understand, very few people here can read Danish.

It would be interesting to see what fault codes your ABS module has with the different codings in it.

I delete the fault code and make the setting i have found on Ross tech (car specific)

Basic Setting 

 Sensor for Steering Angle (G85) 

Prerequisites:

## Start the vehicle. 
## Drive in a short distance straight line on a level surface at a speed not higher than 20 km/h. 
## While driving turn the steering wheel one turn to the right and one turn to the left. 
## When having the steering wheel straight again stop the vehicle with the wheels pointed straight. 
## Ensure that the steering wheel is not moved again. 
## Keep the engine running and do not switch off the ignition. 
## System voltage at least 12.0 V.

[03 - Brake Electronics]
[Security Access - 16]
 Enter 40168, to enable the basic setting.
[Do it!]
[Basic Settings - 04]
 Group 060
[Go!]
 Activate the Basic Setting.
[ON/OFF/Next]
 After a successful basic setting, field 2 should say "OK".
[Done, Go Back]
 To make sure the basic setting was successful, check the sensor again.

Does the MVB 004 in the ABS show plausible values from the steering angle sensor? Do they change when you turn the steering wheel?

Although it may not be causing an actual problem I would fix the following issues:

10-Park/Steer Assist -- Status: Cannot be reached 1100
7D-Aux. Heat -- Status: Not registered 0011

* 10 shouldn't be installed (PR-7X0 Without park distance control) so you should un-check that using the [Installation List] function in address 19-CAN Gateway.
* I'm not so sure about 7D based on PR-Code 9M0 Without auxiliary heater/parking heater. Since it has a module I would tick that box while in the [Installation List] function.

Make sure to [Save coding] and clear all fault codes after that modification.

Next, I believe the factory ABS coding was 0013602 but someone retrofitted a trailer hitch so 0029986 would be the correct coding in the current condition. I would leave it coded to 0029986.

At that point we need to figure out why the G85 isn't reading. The sensor is behind the slip ring in this car rather that part of the 44 rack. Wheel speed problems can prevent you from calibrating G85 and prevent you from seeing live MVB data so my recommendation is to drive it and see if any of these return:

I have made the change in the installation list

Made the ABS coding to 0029986 as you suggested,
and cleared all fault codes.

Made a test drive - and during the test drive the ABS braking turned on and of without touching the brake pedal and nearly stopped the car, if in use the clutch it stopped.

coming back i made a full scan and it only stated missing stearing angel, so i tried to make the basic setting, but with no result.

I would log measuring block group 001 while driving to see if one (or more) of the wheel speed sensors is showing incorrect data. Try to drive as straight as possible so the sensor readings should be identical.

Edit. You may want to add group 005 while driving to make sure brake pressure and the brake switch are NOT being activated if it stops the car again. Your log would end up containing this data:

I'd say one of ABS rotors (integrated into wheel bearing) is damaged causing WSS misreading the correct wheel speed. You just have to find witch one. You may want to use graphical data display (VC Scope) instead of data logging, it will be easier to "catch" the wrong reading.

P.S. Sometimes cleaning the rotors (sealed bearing side surfaces) may help.

I had the issue of the G85 not reading and it turned out it had disabled its self in one of the adaptation channels. Re-enabled and worked fine.
