    VW Phaeton 3.0 tdi (BMK)

    Hi all,

My first post....I have an issue with my Phaeton, the car is in 'limp mode' Exhaust Workshop warning on start up and MIL is on along with the Glowplug light flashing.

In regards to 009263 - Diesel Particulate Filter (Bank 1): Restricted/Clogged P242F - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded I'd like to check the DPF soot level and if its below the required level perform a DPF regen. (Hoping that this will resolve the issue)

I'm using a registered version of VCDS-Lite can someone tell me how i need to go about this in step-by-step detail?

There are a number of videos online but the VCDS and VCDS-Lite interface is slightly different.

Which measuring block shows the DPF info? Should the soot level be below 68% or below 68g? How is it displayed?

Do I need the Login code or the Security code before performing a DPF regen? If so what are they?

Is there a chance the issue could be a faulty DPF pressure sensor G450? How do I test the sensor individually? (If it is the sensor who the hell decided to put it on top of the gearbox!!!)

    Any help or advice appreciated.

Once I get the DPF issue resolved I'll move onto the other fault codes....

How many miles on this car/engine/DPF?

Have a look at MVB 104.
    1. Oil Ash Volume
    2. Soot Mass (Calculated)
    3. Soot Mass (Measured)
    4. Distance since last regeneration

102 is also worth looking at. Field 3 should have the differential pressure across the DPF. This should be darn close to zero with the engine not running.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

1910 km seems high. I wonder what's keeping it from regenerating automatically?

The last procedure on this page should be applicable:

Field 102.3 is difference pressure and .4 is offset correct...?

If offset is other than 0(or darn close value) i highly recomend changing the sensor.

Thanks for your help Uwe, I did a 120 mile motorway journey last Friday, parked the car for the weekend then set off to do the return journey on Sunday, after around 5 miles I stopped for 10 mins. I'm wondering if the regen was maybe underway when I stopped? When I resumed my journey almost straight away the car went into 'limp' mode.

Yes, that's correct, at least according to the info I'm looking at.

I looked at that link Uwe but I don't have the 'Coding' option on the VCDS-Lite interface http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/manual/open.html

Then use Login. It's the same button / function, just named differently depending on the protocol the ECU uses.
