RCD310 DAB retrofit fault code

Hi all
I’ve recently upgraded the RCD210 stereo to a RCD310 DAB unit,
I am now getting several fault codes, some of which I understand (I.e. The aerial one as I have only plugged one aerial in, plus the aux, as it wasn’t connected at the time of the autoscan).
The one that is puzzling me are the ones for rear speakers. It is obviously telling me that there are no rear speakers connected -correctly! But how to stop it checking...
I have searched the coding and found that the Long Coding can be altered to set 2 or 4 passive speakers.
Using the long coding helper, I have set the speakers to 2, but the unit will not accept the coding.
Has anyone encountered this before?

It is indeed true that the RCD210 comes with the factory equipment of only two speakers.
Is there maybe a bit/byte that allows you to disable the speaker monitoring? You could try to change that together with the 2-4 speaker option.

I'm not quite sure how VW counts, but sometimes it could be:
- 2 speakers is only two speakers in the front doors;
- 4 speakers is two speakers + two tweeters in the a-pillar;
- 6 speakers is 4 speakers + 2 speakers in the rear doors.

vw counts as:
- 2 speakers is two speakers in the front doors and tweeters,
- 4 speakers is four speakers + four tweeters;
if it won't accept 2 speakers coding in byte 2 then set byte 4 to 02 speaker monitoring front active, rear inactive...

Thanks for the advice all.
I had a look today, and the unit definitely won’t accept the coding for front speakers only.
I then tried to turn off monitoring for the rear speakers, but all I could switch off was the monitoring for the tweeters, which reduced the number of fault codes, but did not eliminate them..
Any more suggestions (other than installing rear speakers (!) )

Are you trying to only change one byte at a time? ie changing byte 2, apply coding, then change byte 4 and apply...

You should in theory be able to change your coding string from
05000400040014
to
05000200020014

This should change to only 2 passive front speakers, and speaker monitoring only for front speakers active...

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am just trying one change at a time.
The monitoring options for all speakers is just for the tweeters, therefore I cannot turn off for the rears completely..
Looks like I’ll have to install speakers!
