Hello Everyone! I recently took on a retrofitting project to get an MIB2 unit into my passat. I've been running into a couple issues and I hope you all can help me out in some way. I followed the necessary steps to ensure all new components would work, including upgrading my canbus gateway from 7N0 907 530 P to 7N0 907 530 BD as I read that I would not be able to access the 5F module to code the MIB2 head unit with the old one. Upon hooking everything up, I lost functioning of my sunroof and dashboard analog clock. I contacted the folks at Ross-tech and they read through my scans and saw that 4F was no longer able to be accessed with the new gateway. They inferred that this could be the reason my sunroof stopped working. Now, as far as I'm aware, I need a gateway ending is at least -AN or above to have access to 5F. I installed a -BD version and lost access to 4F. Any recommendations on whether I should try an -AN gateway? Will I still have access to bother 5F and 4F? I am seeing plenty of -AP models for sale for a reasonable price, but the folks at Ross-Tech indicated that per my VIN, 7N0-907-530-AN-Z00 is the version that is listed as a part number for my car. Any reason a -AP unit wouldn't work? I have attached scans before the swap and right after the swap for reference. The head unit works great, except for an issue where the RVC screen does not activate on reverse. It happens almost everyday and I have to restart the unit before the image returns when I place the car in reverse. I have an OEM retrofitted camera installed with an RGB-composite signal converter. I'll be working on fixing that as soon as I figure out what is wrong with the gateway. Thoughts? Thanks! :D

Just use the original gateway, and to access the discover media put 5F in the bottom left box to access it on vcds.

I think 7N0907530AN in its original form does not bring the support for 5F but it is the version that can be software upgraded to at least 7N0907530BC (and including BG, BL) to gain 5F support. Just buy the BC version and you should be good to go.

If you have Discover Media, you can remove the MDI box (address 2E) and Bluetooth (address 77). I'm unsure if MDI messes with 5F but in my experience the Bluetooth does.

I’m still using original 3c0 gateway no issue. You don’t need to change to a gateway that supports 5F

I'll give putting the old gateway back into the car and see if that helps return 4F functionality. I currently have a -BD gateway installed as I mentioned before. I'm unsure why I would lose 4F access with that version in the first place. I was under the impression that anything above -BC would work in my car...maybe -BD is different than BC/BG/BL etc.

UPDATE: changed back to the old gateway and everything that was lost is working again. I can confirm that I can access the 5F module by searching for it in the bottom left area. Still having the issue with the RVC. Will change it to a composite aftermarket one sometime this week to see if that resolves the issue. Thanks

Different CAN-gw have different connections. There are LIN1, LIN2 and Can-Extended. There also might be more. Be safe and use one with HW:530AN(SW: AN,BC BG BL).

Been there, done that.

Update: Changed the RVC to an aftermarket composite one with a digital relay...issue still persists. Not sure what to do next. I have read on other threads that a possible software update may be required as a bug fix. Not sure how I can do that with a retrofitted unit with component protection removed. I have to reset the unit every time I start the car now to get it to change to the RVC screen. Not great. :cry:
