I'm new to Ross-Tech and this is my first post. I've tried to be as detailed as possible but if I've missed something please let me know. I'm having issues with the DPF on my 2008 Audi A5 3.0 TDI. The issue has been ongoing intermittently for the year and a half that I've owned the car. It's been to a couple of different Audi specialists and the issue is still present, although can go 2 -3 months with out presenting itself. The two DTC's which usually present themselves are: 5188 - Diesel Particulate Filter (Bank 1) P242F 00 [032] - Restricted/Clogged and 5189 - Particulate Trap Bank 1 P2002 00 [032] - Efficiency Below Threshold. It does occasionally present the error 5162 - Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 (G450)P0471 00 [229] - Implausible Signal although has not yet done this since the latest pressure sensor change.
The EGR valve has been replaced as after the first pressure sensor change the car popped up with an EGR fault . The car's software has all been updated. The car has had the G450 Pressure sensor replaced three times, once before the EGR valve and twice after at different garages.
The first two codes popped up again today whilst in stuck in town traffic. The car had just completed a 20 mile run at 60mph plus and then spent around ten minutes in queued traffic The DPF was not due a regeneration (does it around every 200 miles since software update) as the car had only covered just over 50 miles since the last one completed. The DPF light lit up, stayed on for around 30 seconds, then went out and got the flashing glowplug and limp mode. After leaving the car switched off for around 45 minutes, switched back on and no DPF light or flashing glowplug with full power restored. The car has done this previously whilst stuck in traffic, once after around 100 miles on a motorway.
The freeze frame data show the Distance since regeneration at 0 miles however when going into advance measuring the data shows 54 miles since last regeneration. Clearly something is not right. With the engine off the car showed the Calculated soot level at 12.56g and measured at 0.72g. I then started the engine monitoring these fields and the measured soot levels whilst at idle increased to 24.19g after around 60 seconds before dropping back down to 3.16g after 10 minutes of sitting at idle. Calculated increased slightly to 12.65g. No error codes appeared during this 10 minutes sat at idle.
The garages have checked all connections, wiring, pressure pipe and can find no issues. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this error?
