This mainly goes out to anybody with a MKIV R32 turbo, but all help is truly appreciated.
What’s happening
:
I have a MKIV R32 with about 1k, trouble free miles on the turbo setup.
About two weeks ago I was cruising around 40-45 in 3rd gear and the traction control light turned on. The car started stuttering as if it wasn’t getting fuel, then the EPC light came on. I pulled over and let the car idle. It was super rough, vacuum was bouncing between 10 and 20, idle RPMs were fluctuating and Air/Fuel was in the 20s. I turned the car off, let it sit for about 30 seconds, turned it back on, and it was back to 100% normal.
Next time I drove the car it was fine. The time after that, it did the same thing cruising down the highway at about 60. I was at about 10% throttle and after about 20 seconds, it went back to normal. Turned it off while cruising, and back on, and again it ran perfect. It’s been doing this completely randomly for the past 100 miles or so.

What I’ve done:
I cleared all faults, performed a throttle body adaption, and took it for a ride. Ran great for about 5 miles, then did then same thing again. It does seem to happen at any specific time at all. Doesn’t matter if the engine is hot or cold from what I can tell. Doesn’t matter if it’s under load or idling either.
So, after speaking with Jeff at Ross Tech, he advised me to check my O2 sensors and make sure nothing was burn, frayed, melted, or in any other way damaged and they aren’t. I put her up on a lift, followed every wire and they are all in excellent shape. I check MAF connections and vacuum lines all over and everything seems to be intact and great.
What should I do?:
Has anybody else experienced anything like this? Can has been running literally issue free since the build and I have done nothing different. I’m stumped.
