Hi all,
current autoscan w/ABS incorrectly coded ABS module:
The S4 has a mild stg1 tune (14psi peak) and a catback exhaust. Brakes are stock HP2s. battery connections & fuses are good, as is voltage.
The ABS & ESP lights have been coming on and every time I clear the codes the lights will return after about 10 miles of driving. I spoke to my tuner and he directed me to the ABS control module. I purchased another ABS control module out of another '01 S4 tiptronic (part #s identical, build date about a month prior to the one in my S4) hoping swapping them would solve the problem, but i haven't been able to get that one to work and neither of the modules will take coding or the workshop code.
Here are the coding & wsc from an earlier scan w/the original ABS module:
Then about two weeks ago i was driving the home in traffic and the brakes completely locked up. Luckily I was in slow traffic and was able to pull off the road. After having the engine was off for about an hour waiting for a tow, i started it up and the brakes were free again so i drove the mile or so home and parked it in the garage where it's been ever since. I started it up last night in a bid to calibrate the steering angle sensor to see if that would allow me to set the coding/wsc, but the brakes were completely locked up again.
This is a snapshot from group005 with my foot off the brakes
When I login & attempt to set the coding/wsc, I will get a message in the coding field reading "ad D56". The D56 part i recognize from the ABS module (also on both ABS module stickers) but I haven't found an explanation yet, made a little harder b/c both "ad" & "D56" are too short a term to be used in the search.
Additionally, I'm wondering if there should be something else in the component field for the ABS module instead of "allrad". Asked my tuner about the issue but he just directed me to the ross-tech coding how-to.
I know that was a lot to read through and if you've stayed with me this far, THANKS! Anyone have any idea where to start on this one?
-Could I have two bad control modules?
-I read another thread for an S8 with an ABS issue and one of the suggestions was to fix the wheel speed sensor first in order to get the coding/wsc to stick, could that work for me as well?
-is there a way to relieve the brake pressure even if I haven't sorted the module? I'd like to at least be able to move the car out of the garage.
Any help is much appreciated,
Imran
