does anyone know the amp size of this sneaky fuse, it says 16p on it and is reasonably well hidden taped up in the loom, its on a main red cable coming from fusebox ,its covered in black rubber and has a protective plastic box around it, you have to cut open the loom to find it

Based on this information it's slightly impossible to say. What's the colour of the fuse?

What does the WD say and what current track is it on?

Is it actually a fuse?

Picture?

Please Post an auto-scan for configuration purposes........

Are you sure it's a fuse and not just a splice for the positive wire from 1 to 2-3-4 wires?

I did a quick scout in the fuses for an Audi A1 in ELSA (1.4T and 1.8T engines) and there is no mention of this fuse. There is also not a splice from thick red to thick red and thick red/green in there. I'm afraid I don't know what it is.

I have seen similar device in Passat B7 wire from alternator to fuse box. I think, this is something like a fuse just in case car is crashed and alternator or tall wire becomes shorted. Wiring loom was relatively cheap. In my case terminal @ fuse box was overheated because of bad contact, insulation of that big wire was melted approx 10 cm and plate with fuses was overheated, too. So I replaced wiring loom and fuse plate and total cost of parts was below 100 EUR. Haven't seen this as separate part in wiring diagram, too.
