I used DV52s instructions and spread sheet (I could not hyperlink the spread sheet) Even with LEDs this worked great and should defiantly catch other driver's attention in the daytime.

VCDS Tweak Instructions: Counter Blinking DRLs - Halogen Headlights (worked with the LEDs on a 2018 Alltrack)
1.Select 09 - Central Electr control module
2.Select Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
3.Enter the magic number 31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
4.Select Adaptation - 10 from the "Open Controller" screen
5.From the pull-down button find the adaptation channels listed below
6.Change the two Leuchte channels to the values below

1.TIP: use the "search" facility on the latest RT software to find the two channels listed below as follows:

•Enter LB4 into the search box to find the Left Hand DRL channel

•Enter RB32 into the search box to find the Right Hand DRL channel

If you want the DRLs to counter blink with the turn signal, change to these the settings

•( 8 )-Leuchte4TFL LB4-Lichtfunktion C 4 to Blinken links Hellphase
•( 8 )-Leuchte5 TFL RB32-Lichtfunktion C 5 to Blinken rechts Hellphase

If you want the DRLs to blink in unison with the turn signal, change to these the settings

•( 8 )-Leuchte4TFL LB4-Lichtfunktion C 4 to Blinken links Dunkelphase
•( 8 )-Leuchte5 TFL RB32-Lichtfunktion C 5 to Blinken rechts Dunkelphase

Video with the caution lights on with DRLs for demo.

I also would like to do the five brake light mod to this car but I am having trouble finding the adaptation channel settings someone else has already figured out for led tail lights.

Here it the adaptation map for the tail lights only of his 2018 Alltrack. Tring to keep it short and sweet for now that is.

^^^ try this:
ENG116959-ENG116314-Leuchte23SL HLC10-Dimmwert AB 23 and
ENG116960-ENG116333-Leuchte24SL HRA65-Dimmwert AB 24
Change to 100 (from 127)

ENG116959-ENG116313-Leuchte23SL HLC10-Lichtfunktion B 23 and
ENG116960-ENG116332-Leuchte24SL HRA65-Lichtfunktion B 24
Change to Brake light (from not active)

Don

PS Interesting settings for the inner lights - they are programmed for Parking lights and they have an illumination value of 127 (Max illumination). If you implement my suggestion, the inner lights will also illuminate to the same value when the brake pedal is pressed. So a car traveling at the rear will see no difference between Parking lights and brake lights for the inner lamps (of course the outer Brake lights and the 3rd Brake light will illuminate when the pedal is pressed). On factory programmed fittings there is a difference in illumination level when the one lamp operates as both brake and parking light function -this provides a differentiation in lighting function for the two states for vehicles traveling behind. If you want this "factory" lighting effect, please ask

I thought that was strange as well. I'll give this a try next time I'm with the car and post a video of before and after.

Along with those changes to get the outer and inner lights to blink together as well for either turn signal won't I have to change

ENG116959-ENG116312-Leuchte23SL HLC10-Lichtfunktion A 23
ENG116960-ENG116331-Leuchte24SL HRA65-Lichtfunktion A 24
To Blinken links Hellphase (from Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht: Positionslicht: Begrenzungslicht))

Thanks!

Actually I may be wrong about my suggestion. I think that whole lower clear strip is it's own light for the turn signal. I need to spend more time with the car but it's not mine and in my driveway to play with whenever I want.

hmm........ Alas leuchte programming ain't that easy where the blinken-command is used. You need to "decouple" the hellphase-command with the dunklephase-command before you add another light function because of the enforced priority order of the Alpha-channels (yeah I know - WTF does this mean? It's secret geek-speak understood only by the wizened elves @ VAG HQ ;))

This is how I suggest that you do it:

My hypothesis is that with the above changes, the inner LED will replicate the outer LED plus the inner LED will also illuminate as a Parking light. If you want to dim the parking light function to distinguish it from the Brake light function - lower the 2 x settings that I have bolded blue (I suggest something like 50%)

dhpress: yes, I've often contemplated that very same question - only joking;)

Seriously, the trick to the application of the above suggestion to any MQB platform vehicle is whether the inner/outer tail lights have the factory settings in post #2 above. If the answer is "yes" - it's a good sign

I sounds like you may be spot on. When I attempt this just to verify it works and to take less of my time backtracking if I mess up or something. It wont hurt anything to just do all the changes to one inner tail light then do a function check while I visually compare the old setting to the new ones?

hmm........ I guess that's a subtle way of suggesting that I take a look at the admap that you posted in another place on this forum! ;)

According to your admap HERE, your outer tails are programmed to operate as Brake and turn-signal (so, same as post #2 above). And, your Audi operates the inner tails as Parking lights -again like post #2 above. But the A3 also operates Coming/Leaving Home and Single-Sided-Parking-Lights on the inner tails - so these lighting functions need to be added to my suggestion above.

So, here's how my list above looks with the addition of C/L Home & SSPL (it's a fairly full leuchte-set):

hmm........ I guess that's a subtle way of suggesting that I take a look at the admap that you posted in another place on this forum! ;)

Any ideas on how to reduce the on time of the fogs as cornering lights? He hates how when they are activated with the turn signals and or steering it takes almost two seconds for them to come on. Would the full adaptation log be needed to make this call?

Alas leuchte programming ain't that easy where the blinken-command is used. You need to "decouple" the hellphase-command with the dunklephase-command before you add another light function because of the enforced priority order of the Alpha-channels (yeah I know - WTF does this mean? It's secret geek-speak understood only by the wizened elves @ VAG HQ ;))

BTW are there any good places to read up on command priortys used in electrical engineering when I'm bored? Obviously VAG and other manufactures all do things their own ways but I would love to further my knowledge of the basics.

I've been getting bored at work lately and reading up on PLC controls with ladder logic wiring for automated systems, which we use a bunch there with a lot of data acquisition as well.
